Seek & Destroy vs Robo Rule
« on: December 05, 2005, 07:37:39 AM »
How could you compare the two? I'm interested in getting one of these. I'm trying to open up this really nasty THS I'm bowling on. It's a 38' - 40' THS where everything right now is skidding too far, and I have adjusted surface and hand positions. I need something that will cut through the oil, and yet still have 'some' energy on the back.

Robo Rule
RG: 5.52
Diff: 0.52
MB Diff: .010

-------------

Seek & Destroy
RG: 2.525
Diff: 0.54
MB Diff: .027

Hope this helps you on making your decision.
I have both balls and bowl on Brunswick synthetic lanes, freshly oiled before leagues. But we bowl after the morning open bowl with the parents and kids.
The backends have moderate carrydown and if you get it out past the 8 board the ball will not turn back as early or hard.
From my experience BOTH balls do very well on this condition. Both save energy for the backend and both covers are able to handle a good amount of oil. The Seek & Destroy pushes a bit longer than the Robo Rule and makes up for it in the backend. The Robo sets up a bit earlier and then makes a strong turn. Both are very continuous on the back and both carry tremendously well. I can't decide which one I prefer because I love them both. Like sixcranker mentioned, its how you wanna play the lane that will help you decide. Both balls are forgiving. I am a Track and Morich fan so you can't go wrong with either one. Its hard to choose between the two because I have had equal success.
Hope this helps some.

Adman, how do you have the Robo and S&D layed out? Your condition sounds like it plays very similar to what I see. Lately I've had to play really tight with my WMB to get any carry, but I have ZERO revcovery room. If I drop my speed to like 10mph, I do get some recovery and backend.

What kind of breakpoint reaction do you get?

jj,
it's a medium load in the Total Shock and Awe cover!  If you like MoRich I'd stick there.

With the mass bias strength of this ball, you'll be able to fine tune it to do EXACTLY what you want !

I have both layed out with the pin over the ring and CG near my midline kicked out towards my PAP and the MB in between my VAL and thumb. My PAP is 5 x 1/2 up so they end up close to a 5 x 3 layout. Both balls have a weight hole and 1/8th top weight, zero thumb and zero to an 1/8 oz of side.

Is the Seek & Destroy a higher particle load than the Total Shock? I really like Morich stuff, I think I match up really well. I just thought I would try a little something different.

I'm guessing the Seek & Destroy should be much stronger than the Total Shock, right?

I get decent midlane recovery, just nothing on the backend. I mean NOTHING! The only two balls have I been able to really play are my WMB and dulled-up Shock & Awe.

I always hit the TSA with a burgundy pad after cleaning, maybe try a little black magic polish on top?

Revs, you said "it's a medium load in the Total Shock and Awe cover!"

I didn't think it was a particle.

RIGHT.........It's a medium loaded particle version of the TSA's solid cover...

sorry

My WMB (particle ) rolls alot more in the oil, than my TSA does. Now if I do have some dry to work with, my TSA is 10X stronger.

Makes sense......S&D looks like the choice here

Well....I can't believe anyone needs a WMD...a Total AND a SEEK and Destroy.

We have the local Morich guru in our house and he uses the WMB and the Sahara!

He is tearin it UP!  755 tonight with his Sahara!  I was using a TA(same proper side of the lane).

He recently picked up a Seek and Destroy and has basically said it hooked a TON BUT it did not equal the carry of teh WMB for him!

If you my friend cannot handle any oilier condition with the TSA and with the WMB...swing down and we'll straighten you right out!  BOTH of the balls......HOOOK  AND HIT and not  really any amount of oil should stop em!

Want to really take the bull by the horns!!!  GEt a Mayhem.  STrength like a WMB and also a stronger cover!  Can be very angular!!!!

Of the two, which would be more versatile over a variety of different shots? The Seek & Destroy is a higher load particle than the Robo Rule, but it pushes farther down the lane? Wouldn't it want to roll sooner, because of the medium load of particle?

Last night I was finally getting some movement, first night in weeks. On the down side of it, I couldn't carry to save my life. I have never left so many 10 pins in my life, and I'm a righty! 12, 7 pins was the lucky number, but at least I was hitting the pocket!!!
