TA or S&A
« on: September 04, 2005, 05:15:03 PM »
I have a TS&A and I was wondering wheather people feel that the TA would be a good compliment to it.  I have a S&A drilled similarly to my TS&A with the only difference being that the TS&A has the mb kicked in slightly as opposed to being kicked out slightly on my S&A.  The S&A has tamed down a bit and is not really a good step down from the total shock.  If I drilled another shock the same way as my Total shock (pin 4 1/2 from pap 4 in above mid) would it be a good compliment, or would a TA drilled with the pin at 5in from pap, 4" above mid with psa kicked in and some surface taken off be better.  The ball below these is a smokin inferno with the pin 3 3/4 in from pap and 2 3/4in above mid.  At box finish

If it has tamed down a bit, refresh the coverstock with a sanding and a treatment of Brunswick's Rough Buff, the original finish for theball.

You can't think of drilling Mo's cores the same way as symmetric cores. Moving the pin further away, in the 5" range does NOT make the ball weaker or flare less. YOu need to consult a good driller (there are a couple of MoRich experts here on ballreviews) or email MoRich to see how to drill a complementery TS&A.

Actually a TA, drilled similarly, would probably fit between the TS&A and the S&A, but that might be too fine a degree of ball changes. I'd refressh the S&A's cover and see what that gives you.

Depending on the surface of your TSA you could drill another SA and adjust the surface to fit between the TSA and SA or also use a larger weight hole to lower the spin time of the SA to bring the breakpoint closer to you. Either of those would give you a set of balls that are closer to each other.

You could also drill another TSA and bring the cover up more with a higher surface grit(ie 1000 Abralon pad) that fits between your original TSA and SA.

Just a couple options.

I have done this for a couple customers and they have been very happy with the results.

I kind of forgot about the pin to pap distance not changing the hook and flare in a range of 2 3/4 inches to 6 1/4 in.  On the asym drilling sheet on buddiesproshop.com it says that using pin to paps under 2 3/4 reduce flare.  Should I try something like this with a TA or just go with another S&A drilled the same as the TS&A.  Also by raising the pin above mid I will get a later read so would a pin above mid of 5+ in on the TA also be an option.  I will go to a ball driller knowledgeable with morich to drill the ball, whatever it is I just want a clear picture before consulting the person.
