Thoughts on newer Morich stuff
« on: July 22, 2008, 03:01:25 AM »
I used to use nothing but Morich equipment, but I switched to 15lbs (from 16) and decided to try other companies.  I currently use almost nothing but Ebonite as my pro shop carries alot of their stuff and I can get some older releases for cheap.  I still, however, feel as though the Morich stuff that I used was the hardest hitting and overall best stuff that I ever drilled.

The shop that I go to doesn't really carry much Morich anymore and it looks like that company has fallen out of favor with many of the bowlers around here.  It seems like their stuff doesn't get down the lane as cleanly as it used to.  Sort of ever since the redesign of the block, in the LevRg, the stuff looks like it checks sooner and rolls out a bit on house patterns.  Most people have changed the surfaces of their Morich to be able to use it on the THS, but the reaction turns to sort of a continuous midlane with little response to the dry downlane.  Stuff like the S&D and TS&A were really strong pieces, but they could work even down to med oil.

I'm just basically wondering what are peoples thoughts on the post-LevRg stuff, and whether drillers out there have modified their preferred Morich layouts since the vanguard stuff to get this newer stuff downlane.

I have owned the S&D, Awesome Hook, Ravage, N'Sane and currently use the S&A and LevRG and if a had to compared the EZ Rev and Vanguard core I would say I like the Vanguard core more for the reasons you stated. I don't have problems with the ball rolling out but the last 5 feet and get difficult to control. Some might suggest drilling Morich pieces weaker but that sort of defeats the purpose and goes against what the ball is designed to do. I like Morich equipment because despite their strength they are quite predictable in reaction and carry like nothing else IMO. I have polished every Morich ball I've ever used and when something weaker is needed I'll change an appropriate ball to match the condition on hand, namely the other two balls in my profile. I like to try and keep it simple.

I can only speak for what I have....the Awesome Revs....none better.

I throw it worse than all my other stuff!  It just rolls better!

The LevRG is very early I will give you that, but I can't say I see the same stuff you are seeing. Nsane is just a killer on any league shot at any house it is actually one of my favorite balls in the bag right now I can use it on any thing light to heavy, anything except extremes I have it drilled 70x30 dual angle layout. I have heard that Solid LevRG is a more mellow ball than most people think and MOjave is coming out soon which is a dry lane ball. The only real monster they have is LevRG I hear the Ntense is supposed to get down the lane easier than LevRG. And whats wrong with changing surface every companies stuff requires some adjusting from some types of bowlers right?
