Whats the scoop on the NSane?
« on: February 19, 2010, 12:34:17 AM »
Drilled up a NSane Levrg...

55 x 4 1/4 x 40
P3 hole--1" x 3" deep
(Layout suggested by Mo himself)

I threw a handful of shots on a basically fresh house pattern last night and it was a bullet.  I tried to read the lane, transitioned and then just basically stopped.  I moved right and further right with little to no luck, did find something around 8 board at the arrows/8 board at the BP.

Back to the spinner with a 1000 grit paper, the ball was much better but not quite what I was expecting.  I was able to go 2 and 1 deeper and get a earlier read and SOME continuation out of the ball.  If I missed alittle right it was a weak 10 every time, but that beats the bucket when missing right from 8 board.

How weak/strong is the cover on this ball?  I assume it is a Bwick formulation of some kind.....???  I didn't expect a "first ball out of the bag", but expected to see some motion on the backend.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

If you move the hole to your pap it will not increase the hook.  Basically, a p2 hole (pap hole) is to make it legal.  I'd leave the hole where its at and keep tinkering with the surface.  When I polished my N'sane it was pretty over/under.  I'd try it at 500 or 800.  If I read correctly, you're speed dominant.  You have a fairly strong drilling on it.  I would try the lower grit on it and keep moving in.  My N'sane worked great playing inside with some surface and a p3 hole.

i have an n'sane i got from sixpack and i shot a 279 the other night and usually throw about 8+ strikes a game with it my average has went way up with it but the last game i have trouble and just cant get far enough left with it,mine has plenty of backend i have it at 2000 so i would say the cover is pretty strong.

It took some time, but I've finally dialed this ball in.  I plugged the balance hole and pitched it right.  I changed the surface on it about 4-5 times before finding something that worked.  I tried:

Box
2000
800
400 plus tour shine
2000 plus Brunswick high gloss

This was a hard ball for me to pick up, but I'm positive it was reading the lane too quickly even at box.  The 2000 plus shine gives the ball enough length and a smooth arcing reaction of the end of the pattern.  The overall hook is very similar to my Rampage, but this ball is earlier and smoother.  So, if I'm carrying poorly with either one, I can switch balls and start carrying.

These EZRev cores seem to be the type that you either love or hate, with little or no inbetween. They either match your style and work, or they don't matchup and become garbage.

Had a regular Lev-RG that was drilled, then plugged and redrilled two more times with no luck. It did for me exactly what you say this one does for you.

I do have a MOjave that works pretty well at times, but it is drilled with an "unusual" drilling. Very rolly.

I punch one up hook Set 65 x 3 x 45 it do not cover alot of boards. I kind of use it for dry. Hook less than my Mojave drilled about the same. I took it down to 500 AB pad and it does hook not too much.

I had the NSane for a while, it was a little over/under for and needed enough oil to hold pocket.  I had drilled pretty aggressively.  I put some polish over the box finish and it worked much better, but not 1st ball out of my bag material.  The cover to me is medium with a very strong/heavy core, it would go through the pocket like a tank.  It was also very rolly for me and probably wasn't a good fit for my game.  Eventually I gave it to a friend of mine that likes a more rolly ball reaction, a couple weeks later he shoots 804 with it, go figure.

There was that one season where WRW threw it straight up the boards everytime he was on tv, he always made it look like it hit good/had continuation though.
