Description: Motiv is ascending the boundaries of entry level performance with the Ascent Apex. For the Ascent Apex Motiv modified the original Fusion coverstock to make the Fusion XL (xtra long) coverstock. They have finished the cover with a 5000 grit and polish. The core of this ball is the Recon. This core has high RG and low differential that provides length, controlled track flare, and a more angular move on the backend. All of these factors combine to make a great entry level bowling ball.

- Reaction: Angular

- Color: Pink/Green with Blue Logo

Review:

The New Motiv Apex Ascent is the same as the Blue Apex Ascent but a different color. This is the first Ascent i have tried in the Motiv line. I think with the weaker core and aggressive cover (Modified Cover of the Primal Rage) this ball performs well. I played up the boards after the outside broke down a little and this ball was definitely clean up front and has some punch on the back. I like how this ball gets into a roll and continues through the pins keeping them low. When there was some more friction out i was able to get in and slow it down and open up the lanes. I see this ball is great for the light oil patterns but i feel this ball can handle medium patterns too. This ball is drilled friendly and be laid out multiple ways.

Another great ball by Motiv.

The new Ascent Apex features the Fusion XL Pearl Reactive Cover and the RG Recon Core to create a clean and smooth shape on the lane. It is very useful for being able to play lanes when the patterns are really broken down toward the end on the block or on the shorter light volume patterns. I really like this ball when I can stay to the right with it and keep my angles out in front of me. The ball gets through the front with ease and hits the pins the best when I can do this.

For me this ball fits below the Venom Panic. When the panic becomes too strong in this middle part of the lane, that is when I like to get to this ball. Anyone who tends to struggle with sport patterns or house shots that hook too much, should consider drilling this ball for themselves.
