Covert Revolts everywhere . .
« on: April 16, 2014, 07:45:36 AM »
Recommended them to a couple friends, and also drilled one up myself so we had several of them rolling down the lanes last night.  This ball HOOKS, I had to put mine away, but my friends were able to throw theirs.  I went 70x4.5x35 with mine, went 75x5x40 with the one for the guy that bowls with me.  He's got an extra 50 revs on me, but 1-2 mph too, so he was able to get deep and wheel on it.  Exactly what I was hoping for reaction-wise for all of us.  We have Nationals coming up, thought it would be good on the team shot, then we have a tournament the next weekend, followed by a lot of sport patterns all summer.  Doesn't look like I'll be able to use this one in league much, but that's ok, wasn't the intent anyway.  Motiv makes it really easy to drill and recommend stuff with confidence, you know every piece is going to be excellent.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

I just got one as well. Tried it on a house shot and it was too much ball for the condition, but looks like it might be great on a flatter condition.

I also just punched a Cruel Intent, awesome ball. If you liked the 2 Cruel, you will REALLY love this ball.

Excellent isn't it? I'm able to throw mine all night on our house shot if I want to. 41' heavy side of medium. Fantastic ball. The shock is just as good. Scary how well these two roll. Feels like I'm cheating.

We have a lighter 36 ft on first generation Anvilane, and then a lighter 38 ft on second generation Anvilane, so preventing transition is a big deal for us here.  Tribal pretty well takes care of both of those, it got me in a little trouble last night, but the good thing about that ball is you can get deep and hook it more and it will still come back, it almost likes as much angle as you can get with it.  The Revolt is going to be the ball I destroy everybody with this summer in our sport league, I'm going to be able to play a part of the lane nobody else will be able to.  Motiv is so good right now that I'm honestly having trouble recommending anything else to people.  I really want a Shock too but my wife is gonna hurt me if I keep drilling stuff lol, Tribal two weeks ago, Revolt last night . . maybe if they make me some money this weekend I can talk her into it!

So the way I got around the wife's anger is this: my equipment could lead to more sales therefore more money for us...and Im lucky enough that she's as addicted to Motiv equipment as I am. Now all the ones I get she wants one too. She's got a revolt, shock, ascent and sniper. And she wants a tribal and primal rage too. Lol. Boot wife happy life, gotta do what ya gotta do lol.

Lol I didn't tell her about this one, I just put holes in it.  It'll make me money, they all do.  I drilled her a Primal Rage, don't know what to do next though.  She won't let me drill her a Shock because she doesn't like snakes . .

Love my covert revolt! Such a strong strong piece! We run Kegel High street, 44foot pattern and the revolt tears it up. Only bad thing is I'm getting the little spider web cracks around my middle finger. Not worried about motiv helping me out with that prob though.

Motiv's customer service is second to none. Call the toll free number on their website and tell them the issue. They'll help you out. Good people up there.

I've heard from many, and read on here on how good motiv's customer service is. Builds a fan base when companies try hard to satisfy their customers.

Couple things here on preventing the cracks.  Number one, slightly bevel your grip holes, it rounds the edge off, which helps keep it from cracking or chipping.  Also watch the amount of glue used putting the grips in.  Glue will expand and contract at a different rate than the coverstock, so excess glue used on inserts is usually a main culprit in cracking around the fingers.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's lack of bevel. I don't use inserts, and my fingers holes are normally, near hot off the press sharp. I need to get over the feel of that, I'm sure that's why it cracked.

Maybe just bevel the back sides?  If you like the edges sharp, I'd keep them that way, maybe just bevel where you aren't going to feel it.

The Covert Revolt is a fantastic ball.  It is the first ball out of the bag every time I bowl.  You can hook the lane or adjust your release to play more up the boards.  I like doing that vs balling down.  That way I still have a ball with a lot of continuatio at the pins.  Some of the weaker balls don't have that continuation.
