I am thinking of diving into the Motiv pool with the Cruel LE.  

Looking to replace my 900 Bank , was thinking of investing in the new Cruel LE with the Midlane Hook/Backend drilling #3 on Motiv's site.

Other than facebook postings I really haven't seen much since its April 8th release.    Any thoughts, opinions.

I just signed with Motiv and drilled my staff balls.

 

This one has been seeing the most action out of all my new toys. I have it drilled 60 x 5 x 40 pin up with no extra hole.

 

For me I always seem to struggle with high end asymmetrical pieces especially high mass bias balls. Not the case with the Cruel L.E. in fact I find it to be one of, if not, the most versatile high end piece of equipment out there.

 

I haven't touched the surface yet, but my intent is to save this as a step down from my TR2. The TR2 is an awesome heavy oil ball that comes out of the box at 800. it's very strong and rolly throughout the lane. The Cruel L.E.'s total hook is about the same, but it is later and more angular. When the fronts go away on a heavier/longer condition this will be my go to ball.

From bowlers who have been able to get their hands on an LE so far the response has been very positive, at least out here in CT.

 

I know that both shops that I have vistited this week have sold out of their inventory.

I picked mine up from the pro shop yesterday and had the chance to throw it afterwards on a fresh THS.  My layout is 70* x 3-3/4" x 30*, P3 weight hole, box finish.  Ball gets nice length and nice pop on the back end. I threw it immediately after trying out my Brunswick Alpha Max (60* x 3-1/4" x 40*, P3 weight hole, box finish), and using the same breakpoint, I was about 4 to 5 boards right with my feet.  The Alpha Max is earlier, and a bit smoother, and the Cruel LE definitely gets down the lane easier, with a more defined break point.  I won't say the Cruel LE is skid/snap, but it turns nicely off the dry and I am very impressed with the way it continues through the pins.  I've only thrown it 2 games, but I'm impressed so far.

The general consensus thus far seems to be that it is a little longer than most high end counterparts, but definitely makes a defined move down lane.
 
This could be attributed to the factory finish which is 2000 grit with power gel polish. When I took mine out of the box it didn't look shiny at all compared to other balls with the same box finish such as the SR2. Maybe mine was 2000 grit???
 
I am very happy with the ball though. It works for what I intended it for and hits really hard. I'm not a high rev player and I send a messenger with this piece that never touched the pin deck it. The scout was airborne the whole time and just annihilated the 7 pin (lefty).

Where from in NY Mike?
 
 
After doing up 5 LE for folks this week, I have seen these trends:
 
They like drilling angles between 55 and 65, VAL angles between 40 and 55, and pin distances of 4.5-4.75.  No holes to start.
They have shown to hook quite a bit, be continuous, and deal with higher volumes a touch sooner at 1k.
