Forza SS = Sigma Sting?
« on: August 17, 2017, 10:57:24 PM »
In using the Sigma core and naming it the Forza SS, did Motiv use a different color pattern and re-release the Sigma Sting under a new name? Does the SS stand for Sigma Sting? Am I the only one who made this connection? Does it matter?

No, no, and no it doesn't matter.

If i remember correctly on one of Motiv's bowl expo videos, Justin said SS stands for "Sigma Shift". The Forza SS is definitely stronger than the Sigma Sting

It is the same core....but a new and (supposedly - wait and see) better cover. In a way you could say its an updated Sigma Sting.

You also need to remember the Forza SS is a solid, the Sigma Sting was a pearl, so you have that difference as well.

None of this was serious - I was just short of trolling starting this thread given there's nothing new under the sun in terms of advanced ball technology. I just hope this one is a winner for Motiv.

How advanced can the companies go with the current specifications? Only the companies themselves know

They are not even close. The Sting was weaker and more down the lane than the Forza SS. The Forza SS is stronger by at least 3-4 boards for me, earlier and smoother than the Sting.

You have to keep in mind that the Sigma Sting used a pearlized coverstock, while the Forza SS is a solid cover, that's why the Sting had a faster response to friction than the SS... Though the SS is not as smoother as the original Forza, it is not as angular Sigma Sting. I would say the Forza SS fits in between the Forza and the Sigma Sting.
