Motiv Ball Comparison
« on: October 30, 2015, 12:59:35 PM »
I have drilled the Venom Panic, and I like it, but for me on Stone Street, it just pushes a little more than I like.   I have it drilled something like 30 x 4.5 x 50.

I was thinking about drilling the Forza Redline.  When I look on Motiv's website, they have the Venom Panic listed on Med/Dry and the Redline on Med.

Redline and Panic appear to have the same factory finish.  Redline is listed as Pearl, and Panic as solid (probably).  Redline diff is .051 (15lb), and Panic is 0.34 (15 lb).  So all that looks okay, and reasonable.

When I go to BowlingThisMonth and compare the two.  The hook rating is larger for the Panic.

Does anybody out there have similar drillings on the two and can tell me what they see from the two balls in comparison to one another?  Perhaps if I need something earlier, the Forza Redline isn't a great option since it is a pearl (without changing the cover).

Thanks,

Drew

Both the Panic and the Redline are pearls. I had both drilled identically, and have no idea why anyone would have the panic as the more aggressive of the two. The red line is by far and away more aggressive than the panic. I'd say they start around the same area of the lane, but the red line is nuts on the backend, where the most I see from the panic is a hard arc.

If you're looking for something that starts earlier, I'd go with either the shock or the forza, depending on how much more aggressive overall you're looking for.

Thanks Matt,

I appreciate your response.

I have a bit more tilt than most, so I need things to start up a little earlier on most longer patterns.  My Sigma Sting works pretty well for me on our version of Stone Street, but I can't get too aggressive with it, or I never carry.

On the converse though, I have tried my Brunswick Masterpiece, and at box finish it seems to burn up early for me.  So I am looking for that "magic" surface/cover combination that allows me to get early enough roll, but not too early.  At least that is what my old eyes/brain are telling me.

I threw both the Panic and Redline at a demo day and the Redline was much stronger for me as well.  I ended up buying the Redline and drilling the same layout as the typical demo layout (pin above bridge and cg in palm).  This ball has been money for me and I am speed dominant.  I'm thinking about getting the Havoc and drilling the same in case I see a little more oil.  The Redline is just matching up so well for me and going through the pins splitting the 8/9 most of the time.  My carry percentage has got to be much higher than previous years.
