What are some must haves if you were going to put together a Motiv arsenal? I would imagine a Shock, Revolt, and Primal would be on the list, but what are the must haves? Tag Vs Panic?

Hey Doom, I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide.  Nothing wrong with checking out new brands every now and then.  Motiv has been very successful for a lot of people lately.  And for some, not as successful as they may have thought.

And this is how it goes a lot of times with all companies.  One company may have a great ball come out, a great combination of core and cover along with hype and success on tour and the next thing you know, everyone has one and everyone loves it.  So what happens after that?  Well, the next ball that company releases will probably sell great.

But what happens over time is the hype eventually gets too big to maintain.  No matter what, the company cannot compete with the hype even if subsequent balls are great balls.

Right now, Motiv is very popular.  Many are going with them as their new brand.  Nothing wrong with that.  But eventually, the party will start to get stale and there will be someone else who comes along and starts generating hype and getting people to convert.  Nature of life.

So go with Motiv if you want.  Personally, I am looking forward for the Forza Redline.  It will probably be a good ball, I just hope it is for me specifically.

Oh, and in case you cared, here is what I would do for a 3 ball arsenal from Motiv:
1.  Primal Remix
2.  Forza Redline
3.  Venom Shock

I don't do a lot of tournaments so the extremes may not be needed as much as others.  This list is a little different if you are looking at older releases like the Sigma Sting and others.

Good luck.

When you limit yourself to one brand you are only hurting  yourself! Unless you are a staffer. (Lol). My bag is full of different balls from different companies. Global Moxie and Respect, Roto Grip Uproar and Wrecker, DV8 Rude Dude, Thug Unruly, Vandal, Brunswick Melee Jab, LT-48, Rhino Gold. AMF Incinerate and Incinerate pearl. And those are just the ones that I really throw right now. Bottom line is if something else sparks curiosity then give it a try. It will only help.

This is great if you can afford the buy it, try it, buy it, try it approach.  Keeps the bowling industry alive.  For me, I want to know where the ball will fit before I buy it.  Sticking with 1 company - especially Motiv - allows me to buy the ball that will fit where I want.
MOTIV Jackal LE .................40 x 4.5 x 40 p2.5
MOTIV Revolt Vengeance......45 x 4.0 x 50 p3
MOTIV Forza GT ..................50 x 4.0 x 70 p2.5
MOTIV Sigma Sting..............50 x 4.0 x 45 p3

This is my belief also.

Not saying other companies don't make quality equipment, but knowing that a ball has a specific purpose in a lineup and will actually fit there is reassuring.  I have had too many instances where I have had a variety of equipment, with the intent of them working together, have too much overlap and holes.  If you can accomplish the complete lineup with many companies, then kudos to you.

See, that's another thing. I'm a recently unemployed father of 6. The slow release schedule of Motiv along with what looks like some quality pieces makes that decision easy. Heck, they announced the Remix and Redline St the same time, but didn't release them together. That allows for excitement over a release.

Also, I've been brand specific the whole time I've been bowling. Ebonite from 93 to 02, Track/AMF from 02 to 07, and 900 Global since then. I've sampled other companies (Morich, Brunswick, Storm, Columbia, Hammer, Faball, etc) and while I found some gems in there, I didn't see anything that I could build upon. There's a point of being cohesive, and then there's overkill.

Sad part is, I'm super excited about the Unreal, Pure Adrenaline, Black Ops, and Booyah, but judging by history, I am not going to be able to try them due to the high turnover to push out the newest thing. :(

I hope it changes. My heart has been in San Antonio for over a decade!

Doom

Welcome to Motiv! You won't be disappointed!  I switched last season and couldn't be happier. Just like any manufacturer you won't love them all, but some are just incredible
