People buy lane 1 stuff and look at the price of that
Looks like the rest of the competition has joined the Lane 1 Price model (aside from the Difference). I do have to say though, the Panther series is the best top to bottom series I've ever owned. I will be drilling a Lady Buzzsaw in the coming weeks.

If no one buys them, then they will change their pricing philosophy.  But if they are popular, then they are priced correctly.

That's pretty much how I feel they're thinking. Motiv has become a popular name now, so I'm sure their future releases will also follow suit with an uptick in price

>> I don't wanna sound like that ticked off AMF dude, but motiv is kinda big around here.

That "ticked off AMF dude" is going to a Motiv Test Drive at Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing on February 12th. I can't wait.

Well, I will see you there. I'm always at Royal Scot, and I've been dying to try out a new Motiv ball since my Raptor P7.
In the bag:

Roto Grip Magic Gem
Motiv Primal Shock
Hammer Ocean Vibe

Hey guys! It's my first post here...hi! I was an enthusiast in the last 80's and am just now returning to the sport.

Regarding the pricing: IMO any conversation about pricinng being reasonable or not, in line with what the particular ball's place in the OEM's scheme is, etc. is all a tempest in a teapot. The fact is that there isn't a ball made that costs much more than $30 to manufacture (maybe none over that number). It should be obvious that it's _all_ marketing. The bottom line is this: bowlers will pay what they feel a ball is worth...that's what determines pricing, as there is no real intrinsic value in a ball that sells for $155 v. one that sells for $130.

I'm not saying this to bash anyone. Nobody is getting rich here. Anyone here have a pro shop guy who does just that for a living and has a couple vacation homes around the country and drives a variety of expensive sports cars? I kinda doubt it.

ANYway...I'm getting a Paranoia punched tomorrow...will report back!

Hi!  Welcome to the forum!

Bowling ball pricing has always been a point of contention.  The raw materials of the ball are only a fraction of what you are paying for when you buy one.  Also figured in to the price will be marketing, R&D, and any other additional costs the manufacturer needs to include to turn a profit.

The Pro Shop Operators are frequently the 3rd step of the sales chain.  So the manufacturer marks the ball up to the distributors, then the distributor needs to mark the ball up to the PSO, then the PSO marks it up to the end user.  There needs to be enough room in the pricing to allow all levels to make some sort of profit.

The manufacturers are pricing based on what consumers are willing to pay.  If everyone rebelled and literally stopped buying new bowling balls, the prices would come down slightly in response.  However, there are hundreds of thousands of people each year that buy numerous bowling balls and are more than willing to pay the prices.  There are bowlers up at the lanes where I bowl that pre-order every new ball and have it within days of release.  Then 30-45 days later they do it all over again.

The current "high performance" technology will eventually make its way down into the mid and lower performance lines.  It kind of shows that manufacturers can make a profit selling the higher tech at a lower price point.

My PSO's sole source of income is the Pro Shop.  There is more to wealth and success than vacation homes and fast cars.  There is also working in an industry you love, enjoying going to work each day and liking what you do while you are there, and being your own boss and controlling your own destiny.  Having the opportunity to do that will make you richer than people who measure success purely based on material objects.

I have mine already, but not drilled yet. Not sure where it will fit in my bag.

I can't see removing anything in my current set of Revolt Havoc, Sigma Sting(2000), Sigma Sting Polished and Octane Burn.

I thought it wasn't being released until March 9th?

Ya I got over there and found out that the display ball is actually my guy's staff pre-release stuff, so no go on the Paranoia. So, being the patient guy I am, I bought a Revolt Vengeance instead :)

As I mentioned, I'm just now getting back into the sport, so I'm still building my arsenal. Having been lucky enough to meet Glenn Wendel at Sidewinder Pro Shop in Lebanon, TN, I'm having a fun time doing just that. So far I've got a rebel Tank, Octane Burn, and the Revolt Vengeance. I haven't rolled the Revolt yet, but am hoping to sub on a league tonight, so I'll get to try it then.

My Revolt Vengeance has been my go to ball since getting it three weeks ago. Bowled 699 with it last night as my team took all 9 points.
Balls: Motiv Forza GT, Motiv Primal Rage Remix, Motiv Ascent Pearl and Motiv (On The Ball) spare ball.. All made in the USA.

If the phaze is a bust for me I'm going motiv. Lol this ball looks sweet

The Phaze looks like a pretty good ball. It looks pretty versatile. I know a guy using it on pretty dry lanes and I really thought he would have to put it away after 4 frames the first night because of the way it looked like it wanted to roll so early.. but it continued to get down the lane all night long and had great motion on the back.. The carry seemed really really good for some reason.  Seems to get the 10 out on a lot of entry angles and high or light hits...

I have used it in twice so far. I will use it with a surface adjustment tonight and give it another try, but as of now, I don't see why Motiv released this ball.

It's definitely not a replacement for the Sigma Sting. It does get more length but doesn't have near the down lane movement ability as the Sting nor does it seem to read the lane earlier with a release adjustment. I find it to be a decent ball for playing a tighter line inside when I need to move left, but I already have the Octane Burn which does that better.

Here are my final thoughts, if you already have the Forza Redline, there is no need to buy this ball. If you like the Forza Redline, but hate the bright yellow color, then this ball would an option.

Thanks Milo.  I am guessing that I would see something similar.  I'm sure for those with more revs this ball will fit a need, but I need to avoid pearl with a higher RG core. For now I will stick with the sting for medium house conditions.
