Should i buy from Motiv
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:51:10 PM »
I have been a huge Track bowler since i started in 2010.
I have a particular style that some balls just don't handle.

My Arsenal.

Track 503c

Condition I Use On : Light Oil / Dry
Weight : 14
I barely use this but i love it a lot.
When i use this ball i change my style to
down the right and into the pocket.
I only use this when im just warming up
or trying to hit a certain split. (so ignore this ball)

Track 607a SE

Condition I Use On : Medium & Heavy
Weight : 15
My favorite to bowl with. My main ball as of now.

Hammer Taboo (Original)

Condition : none
Weight : 15
Doesn't hook like i need it too. Selling Soon

I have had my eye on Sigma Tour for quite a while.
But ever since Sigma Hybrid was announced i was ready
for it. Since im selling my Taboo i decided to get a new ball.
The Sigma is my style but my perfect match while looking through video after video is the Primal Impulse.

I was going to get the impulse but then i noticed all the reviews on every website were by Motiv Staff which is basically paid fake reviews even though they are probably real. No real reviews i have read yet and the only real one i read was negative saying the ball didn't hook.

Can anyone convince me Primal or Sigma should join my bag or should i just stick with my Track collection.
I would like answers from members, NOT a Motiv Staff!

Let me start off by saying, with the exception of buying selling, on this site I haven't posted anything in over 5 years or so. I am by no means even close to staff member or truly skilled bowler, house hack 212 average last season.  That being said I would love to give you my regards on the Primal Impulse.  It has been the first ball from Motiv that I have purchased.  I prefer to use equipment that no one in my are uses.  Was a fan of roto grip untill new pro shop guy decided everyone should have them.  Switched to Visionary and loved them but haven't released any new balls I feel I absolutely need/want.  So gave Motiv a shot.  I am very glad I did.

The Primal Impulse for me is my most fun ball to throw.  I have pretty high revs, and average ball speed and bowl at an AMF house with a 41 ft medium oil top hat pattern.  Stripped backends before every league and re-oiled.  The ball is drilled 45x5x65 I believe, and recovers from darn near anywhere on the lane.  I maybe have to move my 2 and 1 all night long with it.  Tremendous hitting power, seems to be the best match up I have had at this house since my Visionary Ogre SS.  Have had roughly 75-100 games on it this season and resurfaced it once thinking ball wasn't working for me, however, it was timing issues and once straightened out ball was a beast.  I am  now strongly considering either the Raptor Attack, or Sigma Hybrid for the occasional tournament around my area.  As an aside note the Impulse does really need clean backends to perform to its fullest,  not designed for soup or carry down in my opinion, coverstock is designed to push too much to give energy retention on lighter oil.

Hope this gives you a little insight with out any staffer bias at all.

I have mostly Storm/Roto and Motiv in my bag. My first Motiv was a Cruel and it was great! I've also had good success with my Recon Silver for lighter oil and Thrash for a smoother reaction. I came across a TZ3 (International release) and it's one of my go to balls. But, I bought a Primal Impulse and haven't had any success with it no matter what surface I put it at. Seems like people either like it or don't, that also seems to go with the Primal TV4. My friend has a Sigma Tour that he really likes, reminds him of an old Danger Zone. The Sigma Hybrid looks like it can handle a lot oil that would be my suggestion if your replacing the Taboo. Hope this helps.

As did I, bought a PI and disliked it.  Moved on.

If looking at Sigma Hybrid you best like low Rg balls and match up to the condition with your specs.  I did like my 607A which is also low Rg but I use 14's and it's not as low Rg as a 15-16.  The pin down 607A I had still needed volume or it would puke out much like I find with most low Rg balls that I have used over the years.....for me and my stats.
