Venom Panic question

Was looking at a Venom Panic in the pro shop Wednesday and it looked quite dull.  Isn't it supposed to be a polished ball?  Just wondering if you folks had seen it like that too.

The Motiv polish process never looks highly polished. The cover is quick to respond to friction. I didn't like box surface, so I hit it with a 4000 pad and added polish. The ball is a beast

Motiv has a very inconsistent factory finish process. I have multiple of several different Motiv balls and no two are alike. I have three Raptor Talons, one of which is so dull it almost seems to absorb light and another that has a nice shine. Both are still in their original packaging. I have noticed this with several of their products. Some that are Factory Polish look almost sanded, while others will have a very shiny finish.

I love my Shock and Apex. Panic go in between?

Yes. Fit perfect for me. The motion reminds me of the Apex just stronger. I have both apex and panic at 4000 polished. I struggled with the Apex a bit, even after I changed surfaces. But I kept throwing it and as the ball got more games on it, it became much better for me. Kind of weird but I love it now. When I threw panic out of box it read friction way too fast for my liking, took to 4000 polish and its a beast.

I have Shock and Panic, but not Apex.  Love the Shock so much that my wife, son, daughter, father all got one and all like it a lot.  Just a controllable ball with a little pop on backend. 

Haven't used the Panic a lot as I just got it.  Pro shop guy had one at Masters and recommended taking polish off as it is so quick to respond  to friction.  I didn't even try it factory polished.  Mine has a little haze to it now that makes it look different than most balls.  From what I have thrown, I'm glad we took factory polish off as it is the most responsive ball I've had in a long time.  I typically have smooth control balls, so others may like the quick change of direction.  May try polish on top of 2000 just to try.

I'll still see more use from Shock just because that's the motion I like best, but the Panic definitely has its place.

I found that the polish didn't make it much "snappier" but it did get it down lane a bit more. It's still a strong hard smooth motion. Definitely more than the shock. The Shock is also my favorite. I even purchased a second shock nib I have stored away for a rainy day.

My Octane was so shiney that I could almost shave and comb my hair using it as a mirror in place of a mirror.  :)

It was so shiney that the ball couldn't even recoginize the break point, so I had to change the surface of it.

My other balls consisting of the Primal Scream, Primal Rage and Thrash Frenzy were perfect with their NIB finish, so I didn't have to make a single adjustment to them.

Yea, some are nicely polished. I have two Thrash Frenzy still in the box and one is almost dull. The other is a mirror.


It's OK though, I love Motiv equipment and the box finish doesn't mean anything to me anyway.

Hair? ... lol ... just barely ... I have no baldness, but my hair is so thin that it looks like a ultra thin lawn that hasn't had any rain for a year.

Yup, I love Motiv Balls regardless of box finish. For light weight balls like I have to use, they move, hit, and carry as if they were 14-15-16 lb balls. People are amazed  of my pin carry when I tell them the balls are only 12 & 13 lb balls.
