Looking for a summer league in Milw. WI
« on: April 30, 2003, 05:05:51 PM »
Hiya folks.

Like the topic says, I'm looking for somewhere in the Milwaukee area to hang my hat, err...shoes for the summer.

I would prefer a tough condition, something like a PBA shot league or sport shot. I bowl at alpine lanes in muskego which has pretty tough "house" conditions & I dont want to get used to a massive wall over the summer only to forget how to adjust & bowl on a real condiiton.

By the end of this season I should have booked around a 175 Avg.

I prefer a team of bowlers, not card players or professional drinkers, but I'm not saying I'm against having a drink or 3.

Please msg me or post here if you know of a decent summer league looking for players.

Dale Traber's place.
Regatta 2 in the past had a very demanding summer condition.
After league was over you could still practice on it with some of the top area bowlers. I'm not sure if he'll have this league again or not.
Give Regatta 2 a call.
free agency it is until i get a better offer.   LMAO

Thanks a bunch EL.

You're right, that's quite a hike to get all the way up to cedarburg/mequon from Muskego, Especially with all of the construction going on in the interchanges.

You might want to talk to Beres over at AMF Waukesha to see if he has anything.
I don't know the Milwaukee scene all that well. Just throwing places out that might have something.

Bj,

I hear ya, it would be about 45 min. or so each way from Muskego.
I have a brother who lives there.  I'll check it out anyway and let you know.  Have you tried calling Skylark on Forest Home?  They might be running something closer to your neck of the woods.  How about Classic in Greenfield?

I haven't tried skylark, checked with classic & bowled there a couple of times, not bad but a lot more walled up than I would like. I'll give them a call to see if they have any sport shot leagues over the summer.

As far as AMF, I'm sorry if it sounds stupid, but on personal principle I refuse to go to an AMF house for anything other than a tourney. Long Story, involves Kugies.

Bj,

Checked on the Cedars league this weekend.  They already started last week.  It's a singles format run on Thursday nights.  You prepay for the entire league at the beginning of the year.  I believe it runs 12 weeks.  A few regional PBA members bowl in the league.  Shot will change regularly and will be very demanding.

Wow, That sounds like it would have been an amazing learning experience.

The fact that the drive is so far & that they need all the $$ is a problem. There's no way I could come up with that money right now & if I were to work late at all I'd probably not make it ther ein time for start of league.

I guess I'll keep looking.

Thanks again for the great info El.

Very cool,

Do I need to find a team for that, or can I enter single?
