Money Bags March 15th

Anyone planning on bowling? $60 to win roughly a $1000 seems to be pretty appealing. I believe it is at Marlow Heights but wanted to know the level of interest. I know there is a 10 gamer that same day as well.

It seems like anyone who doesn't bowl Jeff and Tony's tourneys bowls this. They do a good job and they are getting better. The turnouts are shockingly high compared to everything else.

JET, it's comical that some of the people bowling Money Bags are the same people that have used a multitude of excuses of why they cannot bowl a tournament. Personally, I am hoping Money Bags gives folks the courage to compete more as they realize they can compete. I did hear two comments yesterday that bought tears to my eyes...

"$150 per person for the doubles tournament?"
"Lets see, you spent $95 to bowl 5 games. That's $190 for 10, we are offering you a bargain when you do the math."
"I guess it ain't that much."

"Dude you coming to Marlow? The shot is sweet in there! I bowl pots there on Sunday mornings and you have to shoot at least 279 to even think about having a chance."

I am not one to complain but there is no reason for a tournament director to put 8 people on a pair. If you can not reserve enough lanes for your max entries then the center should not be moved. It was pretty much a waste of time with 11 people cashing but having to come in 2nd to make it worth while. Top heavy with a really poor effort on spacing. It took almost 5 1/2 hours to bowl 5 games. That is simply ridiculous.

As a fellow tournament director, it is a wonderful thing to see so many people bowling. In the long run, maybe it will lead to more people bowling other area events. 8 on a pair was brutal and Money Bags learned there lesson after hearing the field grumble. In the future, 6 on a pair max.

CTK, maybe your comment about the prize fund will enlighten those folks who question why VMSBT & 40 Boards don't load the money in the top 2 spots.

I hope it does. What loaded prize funds do is lower entries no doubt. There is no reason to cash 11 and the last cashing spot not make a minimum of $120. $1000 for a $60 entry sound incredible but should not ever be put into effect unless it is a set rate from a sponsor or something. If you are capable of cashing 11 people out of the field and 11th doesn't make a dime over his entry fee, how is there any sense of accomplishment and even worse how bad does that look? The people that run this tour do an incredible job on getting entry fees but I only hope they can learn and allow change in their pay outs. You HAVE to come in 2nd just to make it worth the day. Baker and Tony's tour provide last cashing double or very close to double the entry fee. You should have something to show for bowling even if you are the last to recieve a check (or cash LOL)

Any how, great turn out and with the tournament of champions coming in May I am sure they will not have that debacle with pairing again. Kudos on the amount of bowlers they get. I only wish they would step outside the box and join on with Baker and Tony's stops.

I've known Barry since he was an embryo and I'm really glad he's doing well with his tournament.

I'm going to lay it on the line as far as seeing some of those people bowl in 40 BBT or VMSBT events. As you could probably tell by the BLATANT 10 to 10 top hat pattern, most of those people know at either one of our events they won't be bowling on that. I saw more chests stuck yesterday from people who are usually quiet because they had the sling shot ball reaction from 10 out and the "Exxon Juan Valdez" spill in the middle of the lane. Tournament bowling should be a test of your skill against bowlers who are of your caliber or better on a TOURNAMENT PATTERN, PERIOD!

I'm not against a house shot every now and then. But that "garbage" that we bowled on at that filthy center called Marlow Heights was a joke. You will NEVER have to worry about a VMSBT event contested in that center. AMF charges $3/gm and that facility didn't warrant $1/gm. Just absolutely FILTHY. They didn't due Barry and his crew any justice for the amount of lineage revenue he gave them yesterday.

They are new at running tournaments and they will learn just like Jeff and I did. But I think they will do well.

I couldn't agree with you more Tony. The amount of people they get is credit to them. My feelings toward house shot tournaments are bland at best. If I am putting up money to compete I do not want it to be based on who can close their eyes the tightest and open their shoulders the most. If they are infants in there career's as tournament directors then they are doing a marvelous job at reaching all the people they do.

As for Marlow Heights HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. My girlfriend said to me yesterday that they should have paid your entry fee just for bowling in that garbage truck. I have never seen a bowling alley in such dismay. One pair seemed to have molded liquid that seems to have congealed over a course of 25 years. The environment was filth as stated in the previous comment and I would go out on a limb and say that the crew from Money Bags will do their best to not go within 50 miles of that building with 32 pieces of wood inside it. I hesitate to even call it a bowling center.

Sounds like I missed a good tournament lol.  As far as the shot goes, we discussed this in another topic.  The 220-230 avg bowler does not want their ego busted.  They would rather average 240 and lose money than 200 and make money.  No one ever said bowlers were very smart lol

I was referring to Tony's post.  Sorry its hard to drive an hr and a half when theres a 10 gamer 15 mins from me that puts out a fair shot.  With 80 guys though, 59 sure does seem low.  Only 22 in winchester and they had 31.
