Buddies Pro Shop
« on: February 02, 2009, 04:00:42 AM »
Sorry guys I just have to get something off my chest. I have ordered stuff from Buddies before and everything was great, but this time it was pretty bad. I order a Gravity Shift on 1/24/09 a Sat, I receive a ball on Thurs 30th. It is the wrong ball so I call on Friday and let them know about the mistake. I was told the right ball was going out that day, I know that UPS is closed on Sundays so I check the status of my order and as of today the ball will arrive on Wednesday the 4th. I thought they should have overnighted me the right ball since it was their fault not mine. I will continue to order through Buddies but this time I think they dropped the ball.

You do realize how expensive sending a bowling ball Next Day Air/Overnight is, right?  A business can only afford to do so much to please the customer before it becomes more expensive than it's worth.

You are an idiot.  Yes they did screw up, but you obviously have no idea how expensive it is to overnight a 16 pound box.  A lot of other online shops might not have even acknowledged the mistake, or make you pay return shipping, or not send the replacement right away, etc.  Do yourself a favor and delete this topic.

I know you are frustrated but I don't they should be responsible for over nighting the new ball to you. Like the other poster said, that cost is probably close to $100 dollars. They made an honest mistake. If you worked them in the past and everything went great, I think I would just let them slide this time. It really sounds like to me they are getting the correct ball out to you as quickly as they can within reason.

UPS is actually closed Saturday and Sunday for ground packages.

This is one of the downfalls of purchasing from the internet.  If you want to save $$ on a ball by purchasing it from an online retailer you will have to wait for the ball, and if anything goes wrong you will have to wait for it to be corrected.  If my pro shop receives the wrong ball from their distributor, they can have another the next day!  I pay a little more to get the ball directly from my pro shop, but they guarantee pin pacement and I can get use the ball the very next day!!  It is worth the extra $10 to not wait for the ball and then wait to get it drilled.  Just my $.02.

BTW, Buddies should replace your ball at no cost to you, but they can't be expected to overnight the ball.  For example:

Shipping on 1st Ball $14
Shipping to return wrong ball $14
Shipping to send new ball $14

That's $42 of your purchase price they have to pay to make this correct.  I guarantee thet they are losing money on this.  You cant expect them to pay an additional $80 to ship the new bal next-day air.

If they over night the correct ball are you willing to overnight the incorrect one?
They were willing to send you out the right one,
If you went to your local proshop you wouldn't of had this problem

They made an honest mistake....these things happen.  Haven't you made a mistake in the past?

They acknowledged the fact they made a mistake and have rectified the situation by sending you the correct ball.  If you wanted the ball overnighted to you, thats fine, but you should have talked to them and said that you would pay the extra cost to overnight a 16 pound box.  Otherwise, just be happy that they are making things right and enjoy the ball when it gets there.  Besides that, you are getting the ball cheaper than you would at the Pro-Shop.

Is there any legitimate reason why you absolutely have to have the ball next day?  Didn't think so.  Buddies are a stand up group of guys that wouldn't try to screw someone over.  The last time that I ordered a ball from them, they called me within a half hour to tell me that they didn't have the specs that I asked for and to ask if they could send me a ball that was close.  They didn't have to do that, they could have just sent me whatever they had...but they didn't....great customer service and I will never have a problem ordering from them.

Maybe 3 day service was called for not overnight unless that is what you paid for upfront.

Buddies took a chance also by sending the correct ball right away.  How do they know you will send the "wrong" ball back to them, then they would be out two balls and shipping for both.

The chance you take to save a few bucks.

Guys just wanted to give a update on my situation. After posting I recieved another wrong ball again so I call them and they told me they would overnight me the ball I ordered. So Friday the 6th I get the ball I ordered overnighted all the way from California. That is why I am posting this because Buddies did do everything to get the ball I ordered to me. Like I said in my original post I will continue to order from them in the future.

Keep this in mind.   Buddies is not shipping the ball from Connecticut, they are drop shipping it from a distributor in California. Not counting weekends, the ball should be in your home in 1-2 days (normal ground shipping).

Messing up twice on the same order is the price you pay for having various distributors throughout the country doing the shipping for you.
