I wish I could agree with you people, but unfortunately I can't. Approximately 3-4 weeks ago, I wanted to order a ball from them. I requested 15#, 3-4 ounces top weight and a 2 1/2"-3" Pin. They wrote back and said the boxes say 2"-3" Pin and that they won't open the boxes to see if any are 2 1/2" to 3". I then contacted another on line Shop like theirs, and they said it was no problem to check the Pin size and if they didn't have it in stock, they would have the distributor send them the required size.....Regardless of price, I won't try to order from Buddies again.

Brickguy--That is being alittle picky, don't ya think?  I, mean really is a 1/2 pin distance going to make that big of a difference?  Probably not.  If your minimum pin distance is 2 1/2 then order a 3 to 4.

Agroves, the answer to your question is yes! Other shops will look, so why should Buddies be exempt. What is the problem with pleasing a customer? Another online shop was willing and did look because they want to please the customer and do business. If I ask for a 2 1/2" to 3" Pin and they send a 2", then the difference between 2 and 3 is 1". If I ordered a 3"-4" as you suggest, and they send a 4" then again that is 1" bigger than 3" and 1 1/2" bigger than 2 1/2". Storm packages their balls in 1/2" sizes and I'm sure it is for a reason.

I hope you never try to run a business because to be successful you have to please a customer and with an attitude like yours, you will fail.

johnyrey, thanks for your input and information. It now makes a little sense to me. What I don't understand is that if it is like you say which I'm sure it is, why didn't they explain the situtation to me that they drop ship and don't carry stock, rather than a short brief (this is their exact words) "We don't open boxes to check Pin Sizes."

Not sure what ball you may have called about. As stated by another on here we do not stock all the items here. Our shop is the size of a regular pro shop in your local center. We have warehouses drop ship 50-100 orders a day. If the ball in question is here we will try and check the specs exactly for a customer. If the ball is not in our possesion the guys in the warehouse are just going to pull balls as they are marked on the boxes from the manufacturer. Tough for us to ask them to dig thru balls when they have many other orders besides ours to pull. Best thing about Storm balls is that they are more exact on their specs. Sorry if you were unhappy with our response. We always try to be honest with a customer when they call. As anybody can attest to on here, if they order a ball and ask for specs we do try and fit the specs. If we can not fit match them then we do call and let the customer no what we have. Again, sorry if the question was not handled correctly.

Hello Mr. Miles:

I was the one that responded to your emails.  I looked through our emails to find out conversation.

This is your original email.
I am going to order this ball, but first, I want to know how close you will come to the following:

Ebonite V2 Sweet
Weight = 15# ( 14-14 to 15-2 is ok, but no heavy 15's like 15-4, 15-6, etc. )
Top wt. = 3-4 0z.
Pin = 2 1/2" prefered ( Nothing under 2 1/2" and nothing over 3" )

My response was:
All the V2 Sweet are averaging around 15lb 5oz.  Also, the boxes say 2-3" pin, we would not check and measure each pin to make sure that it is exactly.  The Storm like does 2.5"-3" pins on the box, for future reference.

Then your return email was:
Bill or who ever this is, I can live with the 2-3 inch Pin (especially if it was 2 1/2 to 3 inch) if I have to. Now can you give me anything under 15-5, like 15-3 or 15-2?

OK, lets talk about the Storm Extreme. I am thinking about that ball also. I can live with the 2 1/2 to 3 Pin on  this ball. Now, how close to 15# can you give me on this ball without going heavy like 15-4 or 15-5, etc?

My last email to you:
The specs are 15 3oz 2-3pin and top 3oz.

I thought that with the specs that I emailed that this would be ok.  I was willing to check the ball exactly if you would have said that you would like this ball, and can you check it exactly.

We go out of our way to try and meet every customers needs.  I am sorry that you felt we did not go out of our way to help you.  I thought that when I narrowed it down to this one ball, we had found the ball that you had been looking for with your original email.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks
Bill

Bill, this was the key to the whole thing. I didn't ask for an exact Pin, I asked for 2 1/2" to 3" and you said you would not check and measure each Pin. I read this to say that you are not going to check any Pins....

Chris, I have no problem with what you said here. Had that been said in the Email to me in the first place, there would have been no problem and we wouldn't be sitting here trying to sort this thing out. As I just said above to Bill, he is the one that said you don't open boxes, etc. etc. How would you have taken it had you been in my shoes and not know you drop ship and be told you don't open boxes, etc. etc.?
