Anyone ever throw Nu-Line?
« on: July 12, 2004, 03:06:27 AM »
I just picked up a Gauntlet and Virus off of eBay.  I read several good things about both balls and this seemed like a good way to get new balls before league started without breaking the bank too badly.

I was wondering if anyone has thrown these balls, and if so, could post their thoughts/opinions.  I want to drill them up to compliment each other.  The only other ball I plan on throwing is the Visionary Charcoal Executioner.  Can I drill these two to work around and with the Charcoal?  Let me know.  Thanks.

How is your charcoal x drilled?

It looks like the gauntlet is going to be a heavier oil ball.

ALl three balls are med/hvy oil balls

What are the pins on all 3?

If you haven't bought the charcoal I would suggest getting a 0-1"
pin and doing a 315 on that ball then polishing it up to 1000.

Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Eric

Check with Lucky Leftie. I think he used to have a Virus and I thinked he liked it real well.

Marvins, I still have a Virus and a deadly virus. They don't put out enough oil where I bowl for me to use either one. I have the virus drilled full roller leverage and it just checks up too early on a short oil(32 ft buffed to 38 ft). I have used this ball with success on longer and heavier oil. My ball speed is on the slow side (14 mph) and 90 degree axis rotation so those are definitely contributing factors. I do love the ball when I can throw it. It carries very well.

the virus is a great ball. i have one drilled 4x4, desent lenght, with a ton of backend, had another that was stack leverage, and it didn't roll as well, and i got rid of that one.

I loved the Legend.  The ball rolled sweet for me.  I think that ball didn't get the respect because everyone was hoping for a new Purple X-Calibur, but that ball was a one of a kind.

First of all, thanks to everyone for their replies.

livespive - I PMed you with all the info.

Mike E - I bowl on several different shots in my travel league, but there are some that totally swamp the lanes so we can get through 6 games, so hopefully I will be able to use the Virus on those shots.

the great one - I will keep those drill patterns in mind when I punch these up.

Clemson - I am trying to figure out which one is the weaker of the two, and whichever that is, I will drill it to be even more weak so I can use it on drier shots.  I have heard conflicting reports on the Gauntlet.  Some say it is weak, some say it is a hook monster.

Bill - I have not been able to find a core picture either.  I am hoping there will be one in the box.  If so, I will scan it and post it if anyone is interested.

Thanks again to everyone!  I appreciate it!

Marvin:

I would appreciate it, I tried to get it from Track but they wouldn't help me out.  It never had it posted on the old Nu-line site either.
