balls with blems on them

are they any good hats up with the banana label on them i see them on ebay. and wondering are they as good as a no blem ball just wondering why there so cheap? so may question need info thanx

Balls with blems can be just as good as "normal" balls. But if they have abnormal blems, like pinout 6-7" i´t can be really hard to make a drilling that works.

Just to expand on what "azus" said...

Balls can be blems for the following:

- Severe pin out distances
- Extreme top weights (really low or high)
- Color variances that are not deamed acceptable
- Little air pockets from dust, etc. that got into the mold
- Labels marked in the incorrect location or "double punched"

In general a Blem isn't a big deal, but with the first two reasons it can make drilling the ball more of a challenge.  I remember drilling on blem for a friend that had a huge top weight, while drilling I hit a large void / air bubble in the ball.  We just filled it with plug material and the ball worked great for over 2 years.

I actually received a ball that had a small purple chunk up by the surface of the ball...best I can figure it's part of the weight block that chipped off going into the mold.  Doesn't bother me I won a good chunk of money with it so far.

Also, Bonanza balls are "blems" from Columbia300/Track/AMF300.

Usually the ball is the same performance ball as the ball it looks the most similar too (in the case of color blems), so if it looks like an Overdrive, most likely it is.  I say "usually," because you can't be 100% sure - Columbia doesn't provide any information.

If you are buying from BeansProShop, and he has them labeled as a certain ball, then you can be pretty sure that is the ball you are getting.

Also, I believe he will provide you with drilling instructions if you get one with the extreme specs (long pin, etc).

yep it was beans on ebay i was looking at and they were cloumbia balls. now if they are just as good as buying them new then why are they sooooooo cheap lets say 50 for and overdrive why not set a reserve and get more money.

You can buy blems for so much less because the ball companys price them for a whole lot less.  Basically the company can sell their rejects rather than eating the scrap dollars associated with "eating them."
