Hole Pounder Pearl Review
« on: December 14, 2006, 12:49:39 PM »
I decided to give Banger a try and glad I did.  I am a tweener and throw the ball around 18.5mph.  My ball has grips and thumb slug no weight hole.  You can look at the pics to see the drilling but it is basically for me my benchmark drilling for my local centers.  I love the length that this drilling gives me with some left for the backends.  So on to the review:

Ball Specs: 15.04, pin 2-3, Top weight 2.96.

I used this ball for the first time tonight so this is all the information that I gathered from tonight.  I will be able to use it on another condition this weekend for a tournament.  The house is older synthetics and the oil is more of a medium oil house shot.  We had the end pair and that pair is know for leaving 10pins.  I was able to comfortably able to shot 15 to 7 and hitting the pocket very strong.  This ball is very very clean through the heads and then has a very nice arc to the pocket.  It was very predictable for me.  When the lanes dried up a little on the outside this ball did bite very hard.  The carry is very well and it tends to keep the pins low when it hits.  If I were to compare this ball I would definitely compare to the AMF Radar.  I have mine drilled up for length and would love to drill another one up to start a earlier roll to see what it will do then.  I did also leave the ball in the Box condition.  I might next week for league use a scotch brite pad and see what the difference will be and the flexibility of the coverstock.  I can very easily see this ball as being my benchmark ball once I get the cover to my liking.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will try to answer them.  I am very happy with this ball and cannot wait to get my Hole Pounder Solid.

Sounds interesting, but on a THS (flooded middle, dry outsides) anything pearl would do the trick and open up the lanes for you, correct?

Yes, but most other balls will give you over/under & lose pin carry, & the Hole Pounder doesn't seem to do either.

This is not the the house shot of china that I bowl on.  They lay medium oil about 40 feet on sythetics.  The carry down pushes to the outside so no the outsides are not dry.  I am not exactly sure of the pattern but do know that it is not christmas tree.  The high series in the house this year is 780.  Not you typical house that puts china out for everyone to shoot 800's.

I have now taken some of the shine off of the Hole Pounder Pearl. Used it tonight on the same shot as before and the ball got through the heads alot cleaner than before and still game me the same move on the backends. I would say from what I have done to my cover that this coverstock is pretty versitile. Shot 232, 218, 232 tonight. I really like the versitility this cover is given me.

I've finally had a healthy week & had great results with the Hole Pounder Pearl. 12/22/06 I started with 289 & a 753 series. The Saturday before I averaged 236 during ABT!! I now have 14 games on the ball & the ball still performs as it was billed, smooth & powerful. If your looking for a ball & or company that lives what the say then Banger is it!!! The Pearl has performed as advertised & David & the gang have been available/helpful as he said they would be. Should you have any questions please ask. I'm here to help you Pound the Hole.

How strong of a pearl is this ball? What you describe is exactly the reaction I get from my Smoking Inferno, however I am looking for a pearl that gives me the same reaction but is a bit stronger.  Most of the stronger pearls Ive seen tend to be sharper and less controllable.  I have the Smoking layed out pretty strong, so need something whos cover and core can give me that extra move in med oil withouth being all backend.

Thanks

JD

JD,  In my opinion I believe this ball would work for what you are looking for.  I personally have not thrown a brunswick ball so don't know the exact reaction of a smoking inferno.  I have my ball drilled with the pin above fingers like shown in the the pics.  This ball in comparasion for me is similar to AMF's Radar.  I have found the cover to be very functionable as far as using a scotch brite pad to calm it down a little and get me a very continueous arc.  Again my personal opinion is that this ball will work for what you are looking for.  This ball handle mediums pretty good.

Hope this helps,

Derek

JD, I completely agree with Derek. I'd be highly shocked if you don't feel it to be the best ball you've ever purchased you want more specifics on the salt & pepper in the ball contact your proshop or David @ Bangerbowling.com.
