Lordfield Pinhacker Mini Review
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:17:24 AM »
I was recently offered the opportunity to join the Lordfield pro shop staff and have just received my first seed ball, the Pinhacker.  The ball is a sharp looking piece with good shelf appeal that does draw interest from customers.  I had it on my workbench for a few days before league tonight and it did garner some interest.  I have only thrown a few games with this piece on an extremely demanding condition, I will post a more complete review after putting some games on the ball in a more reasonable environment.

Bowler Stats

Right Handed

Average ball speed- 19mph Qubica

Rev Rate- Approximately 350

Axis Tilt- 12 degrees

Axis Rotation- 35 degrees

Ball

16lbs. Lordfield Pinhacker

Surface- Box Condition

Layout- 55x4x65 with a small P1 hole

My intent for this ball was basically to use a familiar layout that I am comfortable with to get a better feel for the Lordfield brand.  Based on the core numbers and box surface, I had expected a very smooth reacting ball that is strong, yet controllable.  The ball was tested on wood lanes with well worn tracks, a lighter volume 40 ft. flat oil pattern, and messy backends that are not stripped on a regular basis.

Results

For this league I have had good success this year with a few different balls that I took along to compare to the Pinhacker.  The first was a Lanemasters Guaranteed 60x2 3/4x60 P1 at 2000ish, the other is a Lanemasters Hornet 70x4x65 P3 highly polished.  Comparing these three balls, the Pinhacker is much cleaner through the heads than the Guaranteed with considerably more pop off of friction the overall hook is similar, just a much different shape.  The Pinhacker is at least 6-8 boards stronger than the Hornet with a similar overall shape.  In all, the Pinhacker is a strong ball with a fairly smooth reaction.  I will likely make some surface changes just to test it out further.  I am inclined to believe my look with it will be excellent with the factory polish knocked off.  Again, when I get some more games on it I will post a more complete review.

Special thanks to Lordfield bowling and Tony Martin for giving me the opportunity to be on staff
