New Lane Master Balls
« on: June 22, 2004, 07:14:06 AM »
The ABC approved list now approves quite a few new lane masters balls; Some of which names are, well, kinda wierd (yeah baby, why in the heck would you name a ball yeah baby???). So, can we expect some new lane masters balls here or is lanemasters going overseas.

Probably not.  And don't expect Lane Masters to display the "actual" cores on their website initially ;-).  It just isn't their way.  Many balls today really have titles for names.

The story I just heard, directly from Legends/Lanemasters is this:
Walter Ray Williams was testing some new unnamed balls for Palmer Fallgren (who is now part of the Legends/Lanemasters organization). Walter threw a shot with the Yeah, Baby!, which was just a test ball. The strike sent 3 pins back towards the foul line; WRW was throwing about 21 mph. Palmer let loose with the quoate, "Yeah, Baby!". Several lanes over, a elderly lady in a wheel chair was using a ramp to roll a ball down the lane, got a strike, and yelled, "Yeah, Baby!" herself. So, they felt the ball was christened.

I really want to try one of the new ones, I just don't which one yet since I have no clue what cores are in them or the specs.

John told me the New Standard has  high RG (2.6, according to the website), 800 wet/dry sanded finish. The Yeah Baby is about 5 ft early with the same drilling.

I'm leaving my NS as is (800 grit), trying it on at least 2 conditions, on eof which will be medium to medium-heavy oil; then I will add some polish to see what that reaction looks like on a drier condition, probably a medium-light oil pattern. WIll report any non-standard behavior early; will report further details later. Real reviews take a long time (2-4 months).
