tommy jones was named pba player of the year with norm duke finishing second and walter ray williams, jr., placing third. bill o'neil won the rookie of the year award and jack jurek won the steve nagy sportsmanship award. for all the info go to www.pba.com

I agree with you, 6K.  I'd've voted for Wes Malott before WRW.  WRW has had a decent if invisible year.  Even without his win at the WC, I think most of the exempt bowlers would still trade years with him, but worthy of PoY?  Hardly.

Does anyone know how the votes broke down?  Like, TJ with 40%, Duke with 23%...?   I have a hard time believing TJ and Duke combined accounted for less than 85% of the vote.

keep in mind fellas these awards are voted on by the bowlers peers---not writers or coaches or ball reps, etc. as far as walter ray williams, jr., not deserving third in the player of the year balloting. go to www.pba.com and click on, "stats", and you'll see he does deserve a third place finish.
