PLASTIC - Favorite show of the year so far...
« on: February 22, 2009, 04:55:23 AM »
I loved this show.  Unlike the Ultimate Scoring experiment, this one worked.  Props to the PBA for trying new stuff even if it doesn't always work.

- Retro equipment that was the same across all bowlers.
- All the historic perspectives and evolution of the bowling ball.
- Guest commentary gave opinion from inside and outside the bowling world.
- Jeff Carter gets win.

I am also glad Pete Weber was on the show...  Something about having one of the older legends on there using the older equipment and rolling a huge game...  Cool stuff.

I don't know if they should do this again or not but I certainly would like to see it again.

Very good post. I have to agree and the publicity bowling generated by the tournament this week was pretty substantial. Having the ESPN shows have mentionings of the PBA as well as having Woody and Voss be there was huge. I don't know what the final outcome will be but this definitely drew some more people in and was a great telecast.

Great Post.  The Ball manufacturers probably hated this show.  Needing 20 balls for a tournament is good for the ball makers, not the bowlers.

I'm with all you guys. I thought this was a great demonstration of how good the pros really are. Heck, we've seen "regular" events where the final score was lower in the championship game than today's. I was hanging on ever roll of the ball.

And I say...why couldn't the PBA make this a regular event? These guys are good--sorry PGA Tour...the same goes for our guys!!!
