Proshop blunders?
« on: April 06, 2010, 05:47:47 PM »
A few nights ago, I had an embarassing situation happen to me.  I drilled a guy a Mutant Cell.  I set it on the counter, on the thumb hole.  Well, it rolled off the thumb hole and off the counter while my back was turned.

Other stories:
Right after I started drilling, I drilled a ball a full 1" too long.  I've also drilled a lefties ball righty.

Before that, I had a proshop guy drill a ball 1" too short for me.

Whats your story?

I got so drunk once during a tournament that I brought the wrong ball the driller to change out the finger grips...LOL

After he got done I was like chit!!! I was so embarassed and had to go up and get the right ball and have him do it again.

We were in a hurry one day years ago and had two Intense Infernos side by side (15 & 14) to drill. Grabbed the wrong one (14) and started drilling it to my specs before we said "this one feels light". Too late to turn back.

Finished drilling it, I took it out on the lanes and shot 300 with the 14 pounder. I ended up selling it cheap to a customer who uses 14s. DUMB on both parts!

i bought a ball and had it punched up, the statics were not legal but I threw it to determine where I wanted the x-hole. I told him to put the hole 2" below my pap on the val. he was busy so i told him i would come back in an hour. so I come back and he put the hole on the wrong side, there was a 1 1/8" crater in my track.

I also thought the original post was probably meant for a different section, but it's no big deal.

drilled a customer a track rule, hit the thumb insert down and it cracked the shell, explained it to him, ordered another that took a week because of backorder and did the exact same thing lol.  needless to say haven't seen him again, but i can't blame him

Here's mine...

Measured a kids hand..I usually start with a thumb measurement. So I measure the rest of his hand, put on all the finishing touches on it.

We offer some free games with each drill, so the kid gets his shoes on picks up the ball and throws it left handed with no thumb..I was like wow..

Had an employee drill one on the wrong side of the line for the thumb on a plugged thumb. Fortuanatly it was his ball.

Personally have done a few lefties righty over the last 28 years. Usually when i was in a hurry. Most recently grabbed the 1 3/8 bit instead of the 1 5/16 when doing an It

I've seen Rules get cracked when you looked at them the wrong way.  it was an interesting ball to throw, but I had 3 that cracked, and were warrantied in a year....

I emailed this guy my drill sheet and he thought that the span distance was actual when in fact is was cut to cut. I told him to just redrill the thumb, I paid him $65 for everything and I never went back. Good thing it's only a Power Groove that I hardly use.
