He made a show once this year, I believe he placed 2nd.  Had to strike out to beat someone, and got the first one...

I always find it amazing when someone comes on and states that his style is similar to a pba bowler, only to have him and his comments de-ridded by someone who has no knowledge or insight into whether the statement was correct or not.

I've been told many times that my approach and release were as smooth as a professional.  But, after seeing some pro's, I think I may be smoother than some.

Up until I got old enough that my hip has started to get a touch of arthritis ( it aches and hurts pretty bad when I bowl too much ) in my slide leg, I was pretty good.  Now, I am more of a "house hack" than anything else.

Still got the knowledge, just now I have limited abilities and endurance.

Thanks Juggernaut

Its not like I was saying that Ken was the beat bowler or anything, actually I've never even heard of him before. I was just clicking some random bowling vids on youtube and came across him and Barnes match earlier this season.

Since hes 2 years my senior, maybe I copied him..lol

Simard by far spanks on the ball more than any bowler on tour other than maybe Maximum Bob but even that would be close. We will be seeing more of that kid next year I know for a fact.

I don't see how you guys have that high backswing. I can't do it. I have a very low backswing doesn't even come up with my head in height but I tried the higher backswing and I usually drop it right in the floor from dropping to early..lol if you looked at just my ball motion i could be considered a power player with 18-19 mph high revs but form doesn't show it. I wish I could have the higher backswing but right now Im doing too good the way I am to really want to change anything.

One key to a high backswing is a STRONG FOREARM.  This allows you to cup your wrist all the way through the shot so that, at the bottom where many "lose" the ball, you are actually underneath the ball, not behind or on top of it.

Basically, with a cupped wrist, the ball is sitting in the palm of your hand at the bottom of the swing.  If your forearm isn't strong enough, the wieght of the ball in the downswing will break your wrist over into a weak position and you will "lose" the ball early.

P.S. A tight thumbhole helps me also not lose the ball sometimes.

Yeah thats the problem I was having, not because I have a weak forearm but like all my timing was messed up. With the higher backswing I have to start it earlier and it was just messing me up and I was releasing the ball early because I have a low backswing and thats where I feel like im used to letting go.

i could do it I think but I just need to practice it and maybe get a coach to help me a little with it..but I like the way am now and probably will be less ruff on my body as time goes on but I might try cupping my wrist longer and see what happens..

Big thing for me is:

~Tight thumb hole

~Wait on the ball

When you swing the ball back, wait for it to come back down, don't force it down from the top of the swing. It takes some time to trust it and the ball, you'll get it.

I say inside the ball through out the whole swing and at the bottem just unload on the ball real quick.

Kenny's been around a while although you are just hearing/seeing him. If i remember correctly his dad used to do lane maintenance on the tour or something like that. I read about his dad on Walter Ray's site many moons ago. Heres something to ponder. Him and TJ are from the same area and around the same age. Imagine watching these guys as kids coming through juniors and such. That must have been fun.

Yep, from upstate, bout' an hour from here.  I'm about 6 years younger than both of em', but I remember watching both of them bowl events around the area before anyone really knew about them.  Both hammered on it then as they do now.  At a particular center in greenville, you can see the honor scores shot on each pair (signs or whatever above the monitors) and you can see all the 3's and 8's these guys shot.  I always root for the sc boys, hopefully Ken takes the exp. he got this year and does much better next year.  Tommy is just a freak.

And on the side, both are huge USC Gamecock fans
