Willowbrook PBA Wild Turkey 5/13-5/15
« on: May 08, 2005, 03:01:20 PM »
Anyone going to this tourney?  I've got the weekend off and was wondering if anyone has bowled on this pattern before.  It looks like there'a fairly small amount of oil associated with his pattern and was hoping for a little first hand knowledge from someone that's got some experience either with this establishment or this shot.

I'll find out tomorrow whether or not I'm bowling in this event, as non-members are officially admitted on Tuesday. If I'm let in, I will be there for Friday's practice session and then, hopefully, A-squad.

As for the pattern, the local lane guy has been putting it out to throw on at our center recently. Of course, the way it plays depends upon the type of conditioner being used, the machine used to put it down and the surface of the lanes at the particular center. From what I've seen, there is a decent degree of playability from the 2-3 arrow location, but that will certainly change when you put more guys on the lane. In any event it should be interesting. Let me know when you're going to be there. Hopefully we'll be able to say hi or something.

damnit...

Willowbrook is out.  Due to my prolonged hospitalization, I've got to cover for a co-worker for the next two weekends.  Which, incidently, means I'll miss the next one in Madison, as well.  However, June 3-5 in Lombard, Illinois is a lock.  I'll have a chance to practice on the shot, get my rhythm back on track after almost a month off, and prepare to open a little can of whoop-azz.  Ok, Ok.  How about just enough pins to make the cut and we'll see how it goes from there?...lol  I'm gonna cruise over to Madison for the second shift next Saturday.  If anyone wants to meet up with me and a couple of our local freaks, pm me here and we'll get it done.

I was shut out of this event as well. The field was so large that only 2 non-members got in. I would've been No. 3. I was pretty disappointed. I watched the practice session on Friday. The fresh shot looked exactly like what I had been practicing on. Oh well, what can you do? I'm going to try to do Lombard as well. Hopefully I'll see you there and we can match up.

I have a friend who shot that same pro am and also bowled with Jaros. My friend's name is Dominic, and he's a tall, stocky guy with hellagame. Personally, I think he should be bowling regionals. He's got the game. Then again, he probably makes more money doing it the amateur way, so more power to him. In any case I'm glad you had fun.

The pros seemed to have some fun as well. The cut scores for today were huge!  Michael Nape +321, Walter Pekovitch +299. I think they're taking the top 32. If that's the case, +90 is the cut. I knew the shot looked pretty wide open when I watched the practice session. lol. Maybe it's good I got shut out. I would probably have gone +500 or so and made everyone feel bad. Yeah, and monkey's might fly out of my butt!

I've got three weeks of spare shooting practice to get myself ready for Lombard.  Hopefully, there will be more than two spots open for new kids on the block.  Please don't tell me how much room there was on the shot.  I'm gonna have a talk with Jeff Richgels this week  and ask him how much money I either saved or cost myself!  I've known Jeff for quite a while and the last time he watched me bowl in a tourney, he asked if I had any interest in the regional stuff.  I shot 690 in a scratch tourney where there was four 700's out of 24 teams on a PBA type of condition.  I had two or three boards to work with playing fourth arrow to the ditch and was killing the hole.  Were it not for two pocket 7-10's and a 4-9, I would have made a LOT more money in brackets.  However, when you have them all in one game, and limp in with 211, you lose a lot of income.  I've got a few holes to shore up in my arsenal.  I'm gonna take a little surface off of a new RS-X and see exactly how much a Wine U-Dot rects for me on burnt heads with carrydown in an eight to 10 game block.  I hope to see you all in Lombard.  Hopefully, I'll be the one near the top!
