56554 - Track / Track Tundra Blue Fire (WWRD 6/13/2024)
« Last post by Juan Fonseca on Today at 03:07:41 PM »
Track Tundra Blue Fire   @15lbs 2.561 .030      HK22/DynamiCore
WWRD 06/13/2024      Alternate Cores 12-13lb      Volume-Light to Medium
Core- Track Symmetric         Coverstock- HK22 DR-6 Pearl (NEW)
Are you bowling on higher friction or “dry” lanes? Look at the Tundra Blue Fire as a possible answer. It is a slightly stronger version of the Tundra Fire (4/20/2023) due to the DR-6 Pearl additive package with the HK22 base. This one will pick up earlier in the mid lane and have a rounded shape. The Tundra Fire is still a good option if you like seeing a little more angular motion. Low diff doesn’t mean less hook. It helps control the ball motion when the lanes are tricky or have high friction. Take a look at the video on Track’s website and see how clean and controlled the response is from steeper angles. Don’t forget DynamiCore is there for added hitting power and durability. The Tundra Blue Fire would be a ball if your clean equipment is too angular on lighter volumes.

56554 - Radical / Radical Max Bias (WWRD 6/14/2024)

Radical Max Bias       @15lbs 2.494 .050 .030      DynamiCore/HK22
WWRD 06/13/2024    (12-16lbs)   12-16 lbs Alternate Cores on 12-13lbs
Volume- Medium-Heavy   Core- Maximum Results Asym    Coverstock-HK22+ Textured Hybrid
Radical is bringing back the Maximum Results core in the new Radical Max Bias. The Maximum Results was a big ball that would roll forward a little early if there wasn’t enough volume down lane. The big diff of .050 intermediate diff of .030 is a slot of engine. High speed dominant bowlers really liked it. Updating the cover to the HK22+ Textured Hybrid will blend the ball motion out for more bowlers. This is the tournament ball for heavy volumes. Depending on your specs, the after drilling numbers for layout A can blow up the numbers to .062 and .044 respectively; that’s a lot of ball! New to the Top Shelf for Radical is producing this level of ball in the 12 and 13lb weights. There is a core change, but this combo creates a big ball for those who use these weights. The Radical Maximum Results core is a Mo Heritage Series ball and Mo would like the hook power.

56554 - Radical / Radical Rattler NU (WWRD 6/13/2024)
« Last post by Juan Fonseca on Today at 03:04:33 PM »
Radical Rattler NU       @15lbs 2.480       .035 DynamiCore
WWRD 06/13/2024    (12-16 lbs)   Alternate Core 12-13 lbs   Volume- Light to Medium      Core- Rattler Symmetric   Coverstock- Not Urethane Pearl
The NU cover gives the traction characteristics of urethane but allows for a touch more forgiveness. This is the same cover that’s on the Hammer NU but with the Rattler core. The core shape and numbers give the Rattler NU a stronger and smoother reaction from front to back. The numbers are stronger due to the use of DynamiCore instead of the thick cover in the 14-16lb Hammer NUs. That strength difference continues through all the available weights. Bowlers who like to be closer to the oil line and be more direct will like this ball. Speak with your Shop Technician for layout options based on your numbers. A surface adjustment may be needed but roll it a few games so you can gather info, if you think a change is needed.

Columbia300 Messenger PowerCOR Pearl      @15lbs 2.515 .040      DynamiCore/HK22

The popular Messenger nameplate goes back to its roots as well as adding new tech to bring a fantastic light volume option at a great price point. 2 Years ago C300 brought back the messengers in a solid and pearl version. They were an option for lighter volumes, a transition ball for later games or a reactive choice for bowlers getting their first ball. Going back to the original color of Black/Gold and using an HK22 base with the Reflex Pearl package, Columbia300 has upped the performance in the Messenger level. This ball is a step down in core from the Kaboom with the same cover at a smoother box surface.

Brunswick Intense Mindset      @15lbs 2.487 .050 .021   DynamiCore/D.O.T/HK22
WWRD 06/13/2024   (12-16lbs)      Alternate Core 12-13 lbs      Volume- Medium-Heavy
Core- Mindset         Coverstock- HK22 Evolution Pearl
Big core bowling balls have their use. Sometimes it’s to start on a heavy volume fresh and other times they help high speed, lower rev rate players to get the ball to slow down in the right part of the lane. The original Mindset did that on the higher levels of bowling, but was sometimes too strong for the majority of daily patterns. The Perfect Mindset was a great step down, but moving in on some occasions the ball needed to continue more to carry. The new Intense Mindset has the same cover and prep as the Brunswick Quantum EVO Response. That combo was angular off the pattern. The Mindset core will read earlier than the EVO but longer and quicker than the Perfect to create more entry angle. This is a great choice for a big cored pearl addition to an arsenal.

58758 - Drilling & Layouts / Re: Symmetrical layout for low track low speed

I seem to get better carry now with the lower track. If you watch some of MO Panels old videoes he specifically mentions that if you stay behind the ball too much,.you better bring your spare ball. He advocates for really getting around the ball for today's game. So I am just trying to find some layouts that will maximize this new track. I do welcome these comments and am always trying to improve my game. Was thinking about drilling the SUBLIME like the Shock, but moving over about 1 1/2 or 2 inches away from the VAL. Low flare with a 20-30 degree VAL angle. Any thoughts?

This is not a layout idea, but a suggestion based on a recent personal experience.

Recently I noticed my track was lower than normal, so checked my PAP, and sure enough, it was.  My experience told me to get the thumb out earlier so I spent the next two weeks focusing on that, and better ball motion returned.

If I were you I'd try that because the results were immediate and obvious.  Staying behind the ball longer and freeing up the arm swing were critical to me using less grip pressure and fixing the problem I had slowly gotten into.

Layout is third down the list of importance to ball motion behind 1) the bowler's speed, release characteristics, etc, and 2) surface texture of the ball.  When we track that low and have so much tilt we "paint ourselves into a corner" so to speak, and limit what layout options are there.

If you train yourself to work on #1 above then your bowling will open up options rather than limit them.  Just an idea from personal experience and not criticizing anything about where you're at.

Ball Layout: Pin Up 4 1/2 X 4 3/8 X 2 3/8 VLS

Storm has added a new ball to the signature line called the Lightning Blackout. This modernized version of the classic storm ball features the ReX Pearl cover that has been so successful of releases like Dark Code and Virtual Energy Blackout. To drive the reaction the new Warp Core with A.I. Technology puts a lower flaring core with the powerful cover to make a unique shape in the line, in the vein of balls like the Zero Gravity.

I tested the Lightning Blackout for the first time in league. Our house pattern is long and heavy, but the front panels have a lot of built in friction and they transition a ton over the course of 3 games. My idea was for the lightning blackout to be my game 3 ball when the fronts really go. I noticed right away that the cover, despite its polished finish just saw too much of the front of the lane. Even when I got way left the ball just wanted to tip a little too early. This isn't unique to this ball, game 3 has been the toughest for me as I'm always looking for a ball that will clear the fronts in this house.

I next took the Lightning Blackout with me for our annual State tournament. Most years the lanes tend to hook a alot so I thought a lower flaring option could be helpful. I was surprised to find a good amount of oil on the lanes to start our doubles and singles sets, unfortunately the players I crossed with didn't break them down well so when i had to move inside of the track, I really lost my reaction. I tried to move just left and my ball wanted  to over-read. I tried to ball down and move left and when the ball cleared the front it didn't want to save enough energy to get back and go through the pins. After fighting the lanes a few games without figuring much out I started paying attention to the other players on the pair and realized they were now right of me, but able to play closer to the track because they had more ball speed. I decided to go back to the lightning blackout that I had put away after trying to play left of everyone with it, and just throw it as hard as I could up the friction. Immediately I had a look. This is far from my A game but the Lightning Blackout responded beautifully and I managed to put together a 240 game to close out the day.

I have since experimented with the lightning blackout in varying states of transition and have found it to be constant that it is the best ball I have thrown when I need to stay on the same line after my other equipment will not let me play there. I've also observed players with more ball speed and the ball seems to be much more versatile for them as the strength of the cover is a little more easily negated with their ball speed.

I would recommend this ball for speed dominant players and matched players who have more speed and revs especially. It work pretty well as a niche ball for players like myself when they want to stay closer to the friction and can add a little to their normal ball speed.

In the average cases, those with high tilt generally want pin positions that use tilt faster rather than retain longer.
On asymmetrical cores, that generally means longer like 5"+. On symmetrical cores, generally 4" and shorter which could be why you like the Venom Shock.

I have been bowling with someone who is similar with spinning it a lot and they've done well recently with a Tour DynamX also short pin with the pin on VAL. They are about 15--16mph at release though.

Again I say generally for the average high tilt situation, because it's tough if you're actually dealing with only 11mph ball speed at release which would mean 9ish mph down lane

58758 - Drilling & Layouts / Symmetrical layout for low track low speed

Just had my PAP re-checked and it went from 4 3/4 over and 1/2 up to 3 1/4 over and 1/2 up. Looking for suggestions on drilling a sublime for this.track and rev dominant. My.favorite symmetrical ball now is a Venom.shock and with my new track it maps out 2 1/4 X 0. Yes the pin is on the VAL. This does not seem.like a good layout buy the ball rolls.pretty good. I hesitate to drill.another ball with this layout. Common sense says something like 5 X 30 would.be better for a low track rev dominant bowler. Am I missing something here? Any thoughts.would be appreciated. I am about 11 mph at release, and I assume.have a lot.of tilt.with the low track. Thanks.
