Champions Pro Shop at Fountain Bowl is also good. They've drilled all of my equipment for the past 13 years.

The newest addition to Roto Grip's HP1 line is the Hustle XRAY! It features the proven Hustle core wrapped in the popular VTC Solid coverstock. I drilled up a fresh IQ Tour edition to compare it to, and I was not at all surprised to see the difference between the two balls. I drilled both balls 5x4x4.25 2LS and kept the OOB finish on both. To cut to the chase, the Hustle XRAY is much cleaner through the front part of the lane but provides much more board coverage compared to the IQ Tour. The IQ tour is earlier and smoother throughout and covers fewer boards from right to left. This is mostly due to core shape and design. If I had a new Hustle PBR, I put this right at about the same mark as the PBR. Nonetheless, if you are looking for a great bang-for-your-buck ball, the Hustle XRAY is going to be a solid option to go with!

LANE CONDITION

Length:43

Volume: heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes:  The BEST continuation I have seen from an asymmetrical "oil ball" bar none. After using for 2 games I put it away for tournament season.  Can't wait to use it wherever there's some volume on the lanes.

Dislikes:  I can't even imagine anything yet!

LANE CONDITION

Length:41 ft

Volume: Med-heavy

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Likes: THIS is an asymmetrical core ball that's house shot friendly.  Many with the super strong covers hit weak for me, but this one saves a ton of energy for the last 10-15 feet and with the lower intermediate differential is very continuous through the pins.  Carry has been exceptional after about 15 games to this point.

On a sidenote, the colors are brilliant.

Dislikes: Nothing yet

Storm Lightning Blackout
Layout: 4.0 x 4.5 x 2 Storm Pin Buffer Layout
Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation
Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume)
Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

Storm’s Lightning Blackout utilizes the REX Pearl coverstock and the Warp AI core.  We add some surface to the Lightning Blackout – 3000 Abralon.  The test pattern was a 3-day old league pattern with some open play on it as well.  The pattern actually held up well as the testing went surprisingly well.  We tested the Lightning Blackout up against the Storm The Road.  Both balls use the REX cover.  The Road is a hybrid and the Lightning Blackout is a pearl.  It was clear during our test session that the Lightning Blackout was stronger and handled the oil better, especially on the misses left into the oil.  This could have been the surface helping, but I still think the Lightning blackout was the better option on this test pattern.

Lighting Blackout - Ball Specs
Cover Stock: REX Pearl Reactive
Finish: Reacta Gloss
Core: Warp AI Core
Layout: 65 x 5 x 35
RG: 2.53
Differential: 0.029

Review
Storm’s new Lighting Blackout has the awesome REX pearl cover wrapped around the Warp AI Core, which makes the ball clean through the fronts with a strong backend motion. The Warp AI Core falls under the same rating as the iconic IQ tour. As a mid to low rev player the Lighting Blackout allows me to move right on the fresh and left on the burn. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Order one from your local pro shop today! The Road - Ball Specs
Cover Stock: REX Hybrid Reactive
Finish: Reacta Gloss
Core: Inverted Fe2 Technology
Layout: 65 x 5 x 35
RG: 2.55
Differential: 0.045

Review

If you love the Night Road as I do, then the Road will be a great ball to add to your arsenal. The inverted Fe2 weight block with AI Core technology wrapped in the REX hybrid cover makes this ball very clean through the front part of the lane with a very strong backend finish. The Road ball reaction is a little earlier in the midlane and not as skid flip on the backend as the Night Road. As a low rev player this ball is going to be great as the lanes transition midway and late in the block. This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments. This is a great ball for all levels of bowlers. Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.

Storms Lightning BlackOut is a pleasant surprise in the bowling bag. The Wrap AI Core features a RG of 2.53 and Diff of 0.0029 and is wrapped around the REX Pearl cover. The differential is the same as an iQ Tour but the RG is a lot higher but I believe they will work hand in hand with one another. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3 and when I first started to throw this ball it reminded me a lot of a iQ Tour Nano Pearl but it got through the front part of the lane easier. It almost appeared to me as the ball looking sluggish for the first 45 feet down the lane but it never missed the spot. It allows me to stay on top of it when I’m using urethane but it has enough versatility that I can open my angles up with it and hook it. I feel like this will be a great addition to the fans of the iQ Tour series who just want the ball to shape a little more down lane.

Cuda Pearl - Various House patterns and Sport Patterns

The Cuda Pearl might be one of my favorite rolling pieces in the pearl line.  I can hit it with a pad or let it lane polish the drive and reaction is still true.  I will say if the polish is too high like that glass polish it can skid a little to far depending what you are playing on.  Their aren’t to many pearl pieces that will get through the volume up front, then stand up once it encounters friction as well as go through the pins.  Playing straighter, little loop, or big loop I am impressed with the way the Cuda Pearl reacts and finishes through the pins.  I can compare the Cuda Pearl to the Stealth Pearl as far as reaction however, I think the Cuda Pearl gets through the pins better then the Stealth Pearl.  Don’t get me wrong I like both, feel free to check out my Stealth Pearl review.  If you are looking for a reliable pearl that isn’t to snappy or to early the Cuda Pearl might be what you are looking for.

Emerge Hybrid - House pattern

When I saw the emerge hybrid on first 10 I thought this ball is going to be good on house patterns.  Anytime you can get a ball in the oil as well as to the friction and it doesn’t over hook then you have a winner.  When I got my hands on the Emerge Hybrid I was lucky enough to be on a house pattern.  It was simply let it roll to the friction and watch it come back.  Miss in a little as long as the release was good enough the Emerge Hybrid still went through the pins or deflected well enough.  Reaction is mild not overly aggressive and not that ball you want in a large volume of oil.  This could be a benchmark piece, first ball out the bag no matter what you are bowling on.  The read will be true, what is even better the finish through the pins or lack thereof is true.  Any time you have a bowling ball that will help you see ok this is it or ok this might not be it that is a win-win.  Oh I forgot to mention first shot once the lights came on with the Emerge Hybrid stone 9 pin, so if you have read any of my other reviews that is when I knew it was perfect for me.
