The new addition to the HP3 line from Roto Grip is the Dare Devil. A strong low RG pearl with a medium differential. I drilled mine with a little weaker layout, 5.25 x 5.25 x 2. This ball hooks a lot for symmetrical pearl. Similar motion to the Haywire but much cleaner through the fronts with the pearl cover. Most of the bowlers who through

the Dare Devil in the matchmakers were very surprised with the amount of hook and backend. Dare Devil is great addition to the Roto Grip line. It will fits all styles of bowlers.

This ball is absolutely amazing. I wanted it to fit between my wreck it and no rules and was unsure if it would hook enough. I really shouldn't have worried this ball hooks a ton.  I could play deep in the oil and the ball would still have the power to kick corners or swing it out to the dry playing whole lane and still had no problems getting back to the pocket. This ball is available now. Go see you local pro shop operator today, you won't be disappointed. Roto Grip own it.

I drilled my Daredevil up with a 65* x 5 x 35* layout. I intend to add a motion hole once I have some time to throw the ball exclusively to mark it out. I left it in box condition. The Daredevil is something that Roto Grip has needed for awhile, a low RG pearl. I can use my Daredevil on most house shots even to start out. I did have to lightly touch the surface with a 3000 pad to smooth out some of the over/under I was getting with factory shine. Drill one of these up to get you that medium condition rolly pearl ball in your arsenal.

The Dare Devil is the latest Low RG pearl from Roto Grip and it is AWESOME!  The Pearl cover gets the ball through the fronts, but the strong low RG core gets the ball into a strong midlane with continuous backend.  I’m a big fan of balls like the Haywire, but sometimes, I want them to go through the heads a little cleaner but still create a strong motion.  The Dare Devil has no problem with that.  The Dare Devil is a must have for fans of the Haywire, HyWire who want a similar motion, but just further down the lane.

RotoGrip’s HP 3 line has a new addition… The Daredevil.  The Daredevil features the Madcap core and the pearl Amped coverstock.  This combination allows the Daredevil to glide through the front part of the lane and unleashes a powerful backend motion that ravages the pins.  The layout that I used on my Daredevil is pin over the fingers with the CG kicked out with extra hole on my axis.  My coordinates are 5 5/8 over and ¾ up for my axis point, the rev rate is around 300, ball speed medium (approx. 15mph) and I am right handed.

I was able to throw the Daredevil on some short patterns and a house pattern.  Along with the Daredevil I threw the HyWire and my favorite pearl the Sky Rocket.  What I noticed was the length the Daredevil created was unbelievable compared to the Sky Rocket on all the patterns.  The length was unforgiving early but later on as the house pattern broke down and the carry down formed the Daredevil came alive.  The Daredevil glided through the beaten up fronts and reacted like there was no carry down at all.  The HyWire was in play on the fresh house pattern because it smoothed out the over under.  The Daredevil was interesting on the fresh whether it was a house pattern or a shorter sport pattern.  The Sky Rocket was more controllable and read the mid lane really well on the short pattern early.  As soon as the carry down occurred the Sky Rocket had me opening up my angles too much.  The Daredevil with more length and more reaction on the backend opened up the lane for me.  This powerful skid flip motion was needed in the HP 3 line and the Daredevil delivers.

The Daredevil is perfect complement to the Haywire and HyWire in the HP 3 line because it gets down the lane and booms on the backend.

The Roto Grip Dare Devil is Roto Grips newest   HP3 line release.   The Dare Devil contains the Madcap core.  The balls is covered with the Amped Coverstock and is finished at 1500 grit polished. 
 I drilled my Dare Devil with the pin above my ring finger with the CG kicked out to the right of my pin with a weight hole directly on my axis.  I wanted medium to medium strong reaction with a smooth backend.  I wanted a ball that was different from what I already had.  This is a new layout for me as well.  The ball reads the mid lane real well and has a strong yet controllable reaction in the backend.  For me Dare Devil is a bit stronger than the Roto Grip Hywire.  But I think they are quite similar in motion.  This ball has worked great for me on the 2012 US Open pattern as well as house shots ect.  I can’t wait to throw it in my first tournament.
I recommend this ball for a bowler who is looking for a strong mid priced ball.  This ball packs a lot of punch for the middle range.  The polished cover along with the pearl coverstock gives the ball plenty of length and snap in the backend.  The Dare Devil could be used as a bench mark ball or a ball that is used on medium oiled sport patterns when you need some pop in the back.

Likes: I drilled 2 different Daredevils. 1 is laid out 80*5*55, pin is in my ring finger, with a hole 1.5 below my midline on my VAL. the 2nd is drilled 60*5*30, pin up over the ring finger with a hole on my midline at the VAL. These 2 layouts give 2 very different motions down lane. The first layout is much smoother and a few feet sooner. Ball is good for dryer conditions, especially for conditions that hook more on the backend or after lanes have transitioned. The second layout is more of one of my favorite layouts.This ball gets amazing length with incredible downlane recovery. This ball creates alot of angle downlane. This ball is very versatile on alot of different patterns. It is great on your wet/dry league conditions as well as medium volume sport patterns. This ball is an amazing piece and highly recommended for all bowlers.

After the Marvel Pearl was discontinued, the Dare Devil is the closest ball to it.  I’ve had a ton of success with the Dare Devil so far and it goes everywhere with me.  Being the newest addition to the HP3 line with an RG of 2.48 and a differential of .041, the Dare Devil wants to read the lane early and have a medium/higher response time down lane because of the pearl cover.

I’ve drilled two Dare Devil’s so far.  The one I’ve used the most is mapped out as: 4 ½ x 3 with a hole under my axis.  Because I wanted to slow the response time down even more, I hit the surface with 1000 and now that it has some lane oil in it, it reads the lane great on all types of surfaces.  I’ve been able to use this on medium/heavier volume patterns as well as house patterns.

The other one I drilled is mapped out as 5 x 4 with a really tall pin above my ring finger.  The CG is just under my ring, so I had to drill the fingers extremely deep to keep it legal.  My goal drilling it this way was to create more length with a quicker response time, but not as quick as a HyRoad or Wreck-Em because the RG is still much lower than both of those.  I did knock the surface down on this one too, I used a 3000 pad by hand.  This still kept the clean and predictable shape I wanted.
If you need a great benchmark ball that can be used on multiple conditions, drill a Dare Devil!

The Dare Devil gives you the ball motion you need and lots of hook for your $$$. The closest comparison I can make is also my favorite ball of all time: the Storm Marvel Pearl. The Dare Devil gives you the same great motion the Marvel Pearl did but its a little cleaner and quicker off the spot.

On the Medium volume 40 ft house shot I can use the Dare Devil on fresh oil and as the lanes break down it keeps going through the pins. The continuous motion of the ball as it comes off the back of the pattern will let you saw the 10 pin out and put 10 in the pit from whatever angle you are playing the lanes at.

Roto Grips new HP3 ball is a gem that will stay in my bag for a long time to come.

Likes: I love the length that this ball gives me, the first time I threw it it got good length to it then it moved like it was shot out of a cannon. love the color combo love to watch it go down the lane, very good shelf appeal.

Dislikes: The only dislike that I have isn't with the ball its self but the hole that i have in my arsenal. when this ball gets to hitting the pocket so hard i stone 9 pins so bad. But, For this ball there isnt one bad thing that i can say.

The Dare Devil is not only a new ball, but a whole new shape for Roto Grip. The combination or the Madcap Core and the Amped Pearl cover creates the most backend shape I have ever seen from a Roto Grip ball. The Madcap Core has a very low RG value, which means it will rev up quickly, but the Amped core is very slow response cover. These two combin

e and you get a motion unlike any Roto Grip ball in your bag.

I drilled my Dare Devil with a 4-inch pin, 3.5 inches off my VAL and no weight hole. You can see the core rev quickly like an asymmetrical ball, but once it sees friction it makes a very hard and sharp turn.

I have used my Dare Devil on the house shot at my center as well as 2 flatter medium patterns. On the house shot, I had to actually take some of the polish off of the ball because it was giving me some over/under. I attribute that to my slight speed dominance as well as the very high volume of oil in the middle of the lane. The flatter medium patterns were a completely different story though. I was able, forced almost; to get way in and the Dare Devil hooked circles around my Hywire.

I would be careful not to drill this ball with too short of a pin-pap distance. This core revs very quickly and you might lose a lot of backend motion with too strong of pin placements.

I layed out my DareDevil 5 1/4 from PAP with a 3 inch pin buffer.  Based on the numbers and what I had read, I hoped to get a reaction very similar to a Marvel Pearl.  After touching it with 3000 on the spinner, I threw it on the broken down house shot, Stone Street.  The ball rolled smoothly and cleanly through the heads.  It pi cked up in the mid-midlane and moved hard and continuously, though not boomerang shaped, through the pins.  The shell is definitely friction sensitive, making this a ball which wants to be thrown away from the pocket.

I prefer its motion to that of the HyWire.  Its similarity to the Marvel Pearl is welcome, as that is still one of my favorites and always in my "safety bag".  A good summation of the Daredevil would be an angular, symmetrical pearl ball with a very adjustable cover.

It's about three less and a little longer than the No Rules Pearl for me, however  quicker to respond to the dry.  Also, it is about 2 feet sooner but smoother and less overall than the Code Black.  If you have massive hand OR a slower speed, the DareDevil will fit nicely into your arsenal.

If you are looking for a ball that will be clean through the fronts yet hook in the back end this is the ball for you. I tried this ball on medium THS (Typical House Shot) and it worked very well on this type of pattern. Ball hits great as well. Throw it right (RH Bowlers) and watch it come back on the spot! Another gem in the Roto Grip Line!
