I bowl for Monmouth University, and I received the Nomad Pearl as part of Roto Grip's sponsorship of our team. This is the second year in a row I have received a bowling ball from their sponsorship (the first ball being the Cell Pearl), and I have to say that I am quite pleased.

The Nomad Pearl is perfect for lighter oil and I love its gradual hook into the pocket. It's not a strong ball, but it's great for what it's made for.

Overall, the Nomad Pearl is a great addition to my bowling ball collection and I am really happy with the way it works.

I decided to add this Nomad Pearl to my Roto Grip arsenal:
Layout: 55x 3 1/4x 60. PAP: 3 5/8 right and 1/16 up. Factory shine left on the ball. No extra weight hole. Bret at Bowlers Supply drilled this one for me to add a longer then mid length to my arsenal. I already have a long pin drilling Nomad Pearl. I ball me works real well on wood lanes, or a short length house shot, 35ft. or less. Worked quite well when practicing on Cheetah this past week. Not as sharp as the back end recovery as my other Nomad Pearl.

3-3.5 inch pin. we did a dual angle drilling and the angles were as followed. drilling angle-60, pin to PAP-5", angle to VAL was 45. this is one of the best balls I've ever thrown. this is my benchmark ball. the way i have it drilled makes it very even. its not skid flippy at all. the ball goes and has a very strong back end. if i ever get more money i would love to get a couple more of these balls. highly recommended

I have two Nomad Pearls. Both of them are 16lbs. Both of these have similar layouts as the solids I have. One is layed out with the pin right above the bridge, cg under my ring finger on my center line.

The other one has the spinners dream layout on it. This one lets me get in side a little deeper than my solid, but lets me play just as straight with it as the solid.Shot my first 300 of the with this one.

New and improved drilling on a Nomad Pearl:
My specs: 17 plus and higher rev rate, 3 5/8th right and 1/16th up and left handed.
Drilling specs: 50 x 5 x 60 with the pin right of my middle finger and the MB left of my thumb. No extra weight hole. For a picture of this layout, go to rotogrip.com and check it out when they update the success stories.
Reaction: By far, the cleanest Nomad Pearl I had drilled so far. Factory finish and this ball goes a great distance down the lane and does not read too early. Real strong off of the breakpoint, not real snappy like other reactive pearl bowling balls. This ball allowed me to truly start deep and allow me extra length and room towards the channel. Review based off of a 40ft KEGEL machine house pattern and a 38ft Brunswick A-22 house pattern. Thanks to "Shorty" at Bowlers Supply for the new layout idea.

On 9/17/10 went to practice at Airlanes in Des Moines,Iowa. When I got there not knowing that they had the Storm/Roto Grip representive there try the balls. I tryed a few different ones and found that the Nomad Pearl was the best fit for me. That next day 9/18/10 went in to Gary's Pro shop and got the Nomad Pearl. It has been three weeks since I bought it and love it. I have used it on 39' THS. The ball is drilled 4" from pap with strong reaction with medium length (6)and angular backend (10). I find that this ball is the best ball that Roto Grip has made for the sward line yet to date. The price is just right and the reaction u get with it is just like u have in the higher end balls. I have only had this ball three weeks and bowled a 262 with it. This ball u can play from different angle and still hit the pocket like a rocket. I would recomend the nomad pearl to any one that is looking for a ball that will step up there game.

Had this ball for a while now. Threw it one handed and now i just re-pitched the fingers for my 2 handed style. Had i drilled to go long and smooth throw the heads and have a strong arc in the backend of the lane.

All i can say is, Great Ball

Very Versatile, Has some amazing carry, and is very preditable down the lane. Just a very smooth skid and snap ball. Hit hit in the pocket and made pins fly. Does great one the short patterns down here, but i find it to be in between the Storm Furious, Storm 2Furious, and the Brunswick 3.5. So it stays on the rack most of the time. But when the time come, and the shot calls for it, it will be sure to destroy those pins down the lane

Likes: This is my overall favorite ball. I am more of a down and in bowler with not much hand so this ball works great. I got it drilled to go long and snap hard in the back and I love the way it drives through the pins. Once the lanes open up I can swing the this ball which is not my style this is why I love this ball so much.

Misc: It should be pointed out that surface on the ball has been adjusted. I tried 1500 polished a couple of time with less than stellar results. Prior to leaving for league last night I went with 2000 abralon then 2 sides with Diamond Gloss (Storm).

Likes:What I like the most was the carry. Off pocket hits had enough stored energy to throw pins everywhere. I don't tend to leave many back row pins but last night was an exception, but they weren't there for long. I have not had messenger pins flying this fast probably ever.

Dislikes: I have to admit that I expected more length and more back end motion. I know that it's not the ball from a general standpoint but I have to be honest. My layout is closer to 5x4 so I don't know what effect that has on ball motion, I do know that 4x4 (flip layout) is stronger for me on weaker balls....

Final thoughts: All in all a good ball. I can see where with the OOB surface it may seem a little condition specific. I recommend this ball for medium length medium volume patters. Allow the cover to glide through the heads and watch the head turning carry this ball provides.

When bowling for college you are bowling on patterns that are some of the most challenging in the world. As a freshman at Wright State University I found that the transition from High School to College was extremely difficult from a bowling perspective. The Nomad Pearl has made that transition easier. Already bowling in six college tournaments this year I have come to notice this is the ball I most use. The Nomad Pearl is a ball that is very versatile, so I can play many different angles. It is also a ball that gets through the heads very well while displaying a very controllable roll to the pocket. This is also the ball I use when bowling in house shot league because it is so versatile and controllable. It’s a ball I would recommend any experienced or inexperienced bowler. And of all the bowling balls I have thrown in the past this ball is at the top of my list.
