16lb to 15lb Mutant-- same ball whats the difference?
« on: December 18, 2010, 02:26:37 AM »
i currently have a 16lb mutant cell that is working perfect for me. if i were to get another mutant and drill it the same, but get it in 15lb, would it react exactly the same?

I think they may be close.  Remember that the one pound drop will help increase ball speed.  That is going to effect down lane break point, mid lane read....

Also a lighter ball may loosen up the arm swing helping free up your grip pressure.  In turn creating more rotation on the ball.  Thus changing reaction.

There are numerous variables that change when jumping from one weight to another, ball reaction may or may not be the most noticeable.

Chances are reactions may look the same but they won't be.  USBC did a study a short time ago comparing the carry percentage between 15 and 16 pound equipment.

15 lb equipment yielded the highest carry percentage with a rather significant drop going up to 16 and marginal drop in carry going down to 14.
