3 New Roto Grip balls releasing soon!
« on: November 04, 2012, 10:12:41 PM »
Defiant Soul & Wrecker = Hybrid
Disturbed = Reactive (not sure if Solid or Pearl)

I also heard that the Critical Theory was being DISCONTINUED so I wonder if the Disturbed will be replacement? I don't have any numbers/specs on any of the above balls...but with the Critical Theory being Roto Grip's biggest backending ball (and also pure pearl with no additives; or anything like the Defiant's coverstocks), surely they will bring something else out to fill it's slot. I would hope so anyways!

Anybody have any info? What do you all hope these releases will be?

the defiant edge is the critical theory replacement. strong asymmetric pearl. only difference is the polish OOB. take it offo of the edge and you have the new critical theory.

I was  under the impression that the Defiant Edge wasn't the actual true replacement to the Critical Theory due to the fact that the Edge's "MicroBiteâ„¢ pearl reactive coverstock uses extremely small structured additives to help smooth the transitions while maintaining entry angle at the pocket." That last part was taken from Roto Grip's website.

It appears the Critical is a "straight/pure pearl" whereas the Edge is an "additive pearl". Some have even wondered (as well as myself) if that "extremely small structured additives" Roto speaks of may actually be particle pearl? But I have never gotten the straight of it and I don't know if Roto would admit to the additive being particle, if indeed it was actually particle since particle is such a bad word among bowlers.

Wrecker looked pearlized (shiny in appearance it was a cobalt/ish blue and white)
Disturbed looked solid (appeared solid based on its ultra scuffed appearance similar to the box surface texture of the Shooting S)

Was on the truck last night scouting the new stuff :)

At the WSOB that is....

Roto Grip put all 3 new balls on their site earlier today.  This is what it has listed:

Defiant Soul: Hybrid cover.  This will use the same Paragon Core that the other Defiant balls have used and should be similar to the Infinite Theory, Rogue Cell, or Virtual Energy.

Disturbed: Solid cover.  This replaces the Outlaw with the new Middle Roll 70 core.  This is the first time in a while where a midrange piece has not been just core and cover (such as the Caliber or Rotary Core balls).

Wrecker: Hybrid cover.  This will replace the Rising Star and uses the same Neutron Core (now renamed Late Roll 61).  Only difference is the newer 52ML cover may be slightly stronger.

My opnion is that the Rising Star already had a pretty strong hybrid cover for medium-dry lanes and was able to use on some heavier patterns when I had it.

Nope, I agree.  I see what they are trying to do but with 900 Global/AMF and Track, the numbering system is easy to understand and it makes sense.

Roto Grip on the other hand...not so much.

I just dont understand the marketingit seems like a big miss...i would be doing something to develop a "r2s or r2x" copy storm...it works! Lol i wanna see another assymetical in the "hp-3" line...i mean cmon do we really need three sets of symetrical lines? For an edgy company?  I dont use track, but mostly doing assymetical cores is "different" and i dont see the edginess that roto had, or even hammer anymore..it seems its all storm and dv8 anymore...its all i see on the lanes..
