Are we ever going to see a Mystic replacement?
« on: December 13, 2008, 01:26:21 AM »
Just wondering if we were going to see a Mystic replacement with the updated coverstock.  I mean a pearl particle low RG symmetric core.

I keep resurfacing mine and waiting...

It's called Pluto.

Most of the ball manufacturers are moving away from particle balls.  The only particle in the Storm / Roto line is the original Shift.  They may make an occasional pearl particle but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I sure would hope its not called Pluto.....The Mystic is by far one of the top 5 best pearl particles. Pluto is a good ball, butnot in the same realm as the Mystic.

I believe the Pluto is the replacement for the Saturn.
Same coverstock with the core turned upside down, like the Neptune replaces the Mercury. I believe ...

I put 'It's called Pluto' right after the quote asking for a Saturn replacement.  I guess I wasn't clear enough for this forum.

Roto has basically replaced last year's lineup with the exception of their particle balls.  These are not EXACT - but basically the lineup changes look like this:

Epic Odyssey - replaced by - Cell
Epic Saga - replaced by - Cell Pearl
Horizon Solid - replaced by - Grand Illusion (polished, but a solid with same core)
Horizon - replaced by - Illusion
Saturn - replaced by - Pluto
Mercury - replaced by - Neptune

That leaves Epic Quest, Mystic, and Venus...

Only thing similar about the Pluto and Saturn is the coverstock name.  I'm 99.5% sure the cover formulation is different and the Pluto's cover is much stronger in response to friction.  Saturn has an earlier & weaker roll than a Pluto with more diff to blend wet/dry alot better.  Anyone that has thrown a Pluto can tell you how pronounced and strong it is down lane.  The Saturn is nowhere close to the Pluto unless you're just talking price range.

I disagree I sold my Saturn because it was too close in reaction shape to my Pluto.

I would love to see another ball like the Mystic. I have a Cell and have shot a few nice games with it but when I'm struggling, I seem to always go back to my Mystic or RSP.

I have thought about getting a Cell Pearl or GI but I keep waiting to see if a Particle Pearl will come out before I pull the tigger on my next ball.

Yeah that's the same with me.  I have a Cell also but I use my Mystic probably 70% of the time now and it works in different shifts in different houses and on PBA shots.  I guess I could get a Cell Pearl but I haven't had as much luck with pearls.  I am not sure how I would setup the layout on a Cell Pearl to get exactly what I have in the Mystic.  Plus, why would I want to get a completely different type of core and coverstock when the Mystic is perfect?  Seems like a straightforward ball type but they must be shying away from the particle stuff now...

I heard particle pearls don't sell but I wonder why.  I doubt I am throwing differently than most bowlers so I don't know what's not to like.
