Can I use sandpaper on Roto particles ?

I've always use Scotch-Brite pads on my Battles since day since I read that Strom recommeds NOT using sandpaper on there particle balls.

Since Roto is made by Storm, I figured sandpaper in a no-no.

Yes/No ?

I picked up a Venus a few weeks backs and I'd really like to try it at 1500/2000 dull...

NEVER use sandpaper on ANY particle ball.  Sandpaper is a rough medium to use, but it usually works well on solids and pearls.  However, sandpaper will take off the particles that make the ball what it is.  Grab an abralon pad and go get it.

While that was true once and with some companies, it's not always true now.  Some of the softer and hollow particles could be sanded smooth with sandpaper, some particles were so hard that they required Trizact to finish.  Others could care less.  Really, you should contact RG and ask them directly.

I was under the impression that the abraisive material on Abralon pads are similar to that on wet/dry sand paper?  Aren't they both silicon carbide?

I only use sandpaper on particles when I am using paper with grits above 1500.  I feel(but don't know that lower grits damage the particles).

For some reason this has not seemed to damage my particles(ie they still hook).

I use scotch brite pads or abralon in general on particle balls!
