Dare Devil Trick or No Rules Exist for possible lineup
« on: June 30, 2017, 10:29:55 AM »
I'm conflicted which one I want to add. I'm trying to keep this coming season's arsenal as versatile yet precise as possible if that makes sense. Here's the line-up I'm considering.

Red Legend Solid
(Possible Vacancy)
Code Red
IQ Tour Solid
Hy-Road
Marvel Pearl
Hy-Road Pearl
Black Urethane

Most will be laid out pin up 60 x 5 x 35 unless I have a change of heart before punching them up. Red Legend Solid is pin down, can't remember angles and is very smooth for my short patterns. The possible vacancy spot is if I decide to add a strong solid but the cover has to remain weaker than the 80H Microbite on the Haywire as I know I don't want quite that cover strength. That's where the Reckless cover comes into the picture with these two choices.

I bowl two leagues, one wood house and one synthetic, as well as about 10 tournaments.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

DD Trick has to be the first you buy.  It is a great ball at a great price point.  The cover and core were meant for each other.

Ok fair responses. Let me change it up a bit. Say you wanted to eliminate 2 balls because of overlap. Which 2 would you drop from this lineup?

No Rules Exist
Dare Devil Trick
Code Red
IQ Tour Solid
Hy-Road
Marvel Pearl
Hy-Road Pearl
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III

Either the Trick or the Exist, depending on how much hook you want, and the IQ Solid, because it's just not that good lol.

Hy-Road
Marvel Pearl
Hy-Road Pearl

For me it would be the Dare Devil Trick and !Q Tour Solid. If you want surface below the No Rules Exist then the Hy-Road is a good candidate. That should be playable on similar amounts of oil as the !Q but gives you a better look.

I pretty much agree here, but I loved surface on my Marvel Pearl so much.

I wondered if the Hy-road would overlap with the Code Red and Marvel Pearl though.

Nah. The core is too different. I wouldn't worry at all about it overlapping with the Code Red. It will be closer with the Marvel Pearl, but like still different. And I still like the idea of surface on it to really fit with the rest of that group.

Having not thrown the Exist yet, I'd have to say go with the Trick instead. But that's being biased because it's really that good - for me. I'm sure the Exist will be great as well.

I've never thrown the Tour either, but I agree that this should go from that line up.

I would add something between your Hy-road Pearl and urethane. Seems like a big gap. Then again, maybe you don't need it.

Sounds like I may need to pull the IQ and keep it aside for just those lost moments at tournaments if I have it with me.

Typically if I get to using the Hy-Road Pearl, I'll keep moving deeper and deeper instead of ball down and try and keep in the burn. So far that method has worked decently but I agree, there's a gap there.

At box surface and same layout, what difference should I see from the Marvel Pearl and Hy-Road(not the pearl)?

Earlier, smoother, and a few boards more overall.  It feels like a similar look because of how they handle friction, but actual laneplay says different.

Anyone noted the amount of change with a light run of a 4k pad to a Hy-Road or any Storm ball in their 1500 Polish?

I prefer to keep it simple so if I can just hit a ball with a single grit every 12-15 games I would be happy.
