« on: May 12, 2016, 08:49:45 PM »
Hi guys new guy here. I am a lower rev player and around 14 mph speed. I am wanting a low to medium oil ball and can't decide between these 2. Thanks☺

Each ball gives you a pretty different reaction. The Phaze is earlier rolling and more smooth while the Hy-Wire gets down the lane and is strong on the backend. With that said it seems like the Phaze is better suited for those with medium high/high revs so if you're set on picking between these two balls I would go with the Hy-Wire.

Hy-wire if u need a pretty good polished symmetrical, with a good amount of backend.

Phaze if you have many options and u need something drastically different to give you yet another option.  The ball likes to be up the boards... Reads and carrys better that way.

From my research if you are looking for a Medium oil and want to stick with Storm they Hy-Road Pearl would travel down nice through the heads and would have a nice kick at the end.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Keep them coming. I don't have any other new balls so just wanting something new. I have a brand new Lane 1 buzzsaw uranium I am using. It works great for light to medium oil. Wanted to get something new to compliment it.

I have never thrown the Phaze, but I know 4 guys with it.

all 4 of them are good bowlers, and all 4 of them sucked with the phaze on house shots.  just didn't turn the corner or allow them to open up the shot as they are accustomed to doing.

3 of these same guys also bowl our local sport league.  and on the shots with dry back ends or shots that needed a straighter line to the pocket, the phaze was awesome.

If you get a Phaze for a benchmark ball or as an only/primary ball I think you are going to be disappointed.  if you want something to fill a gap, especially for a sport condition, then the Phaze could be the right piece.

SG 17 it will be for house shots on drier to medium dry synthetic lanes. I'm wanting something fun to throw that Looks good for lower revs.

The Rocket Ship coming out in early June might be a good fit too. It's a solid that might compliment your Uranium Buzzsaw better. Hard to recommend it without at least seeing it in action though.

You'll fare best with a hy-wire over the phaze.  Can't go wrong with a hyroad pearl, or hectic....if u need more built in motion, a eternal cell wouldn't be a bad choice either, many low rev bowlers really do like the cell line.

Yes I have been looking at the sky rocket also. Looks to be the same ball as the new Rocket ship? What would be the biggest difference between the Hy Wire and the Sky Rocket? What I've been running into is slowing my ball speed down because of the lower revs to get a ball to hook. This buzzsaw has a skid flip on the backend.

The Sky Rocket is a pearl while the Rocket Ship is a solid. The latter is most likely going to be earlier and smoother, probably a bit stronger overall as well.

The Uranium Buzzsaw is a pearl as well so that's probably why you're seeing a skid/flip reaction. It could also be why you have to slow it down to get it to hook, sometimes those types of balls don't match up well with lower rev bowlers.

If that's the case then maybe the Hy-Wire might not be a good fit for you either, but it's hard to say from the vantage point of a forum. What balls have worked well for you in the past?

Cool Zero this buzzsaw is the best one I've had for reaction and it hits pretty hard. I've used a Brunswick Mike Aulby for years AKA Danger Zone. Its been a great ball but much weaker than the buzzsaw. From what I have read the buzzsaw is a medium oil to lighter oil ball? I'm trying to add one that won't be the same reaction as the buzzsaw. I've been thinking Hy Wire and Haywire. Thanks
