Mustang Guy and anyone else with Roto Smarts
« on: July 13, 2003, 04:43:09 AM »
I currently have a Retro Blue (love it on medium) and a SonicX (great on medium dry and dry).  I need a good medium heavy to heavy ball.  I am debating between a top fuel or a silver streak particle.  Any advice?

Both the Top Fuel and the SS Particle are Medium-Heavy balls, The Fuel is a heavy Oil ball.

Yup..PNJ is right, both are med-heavy, the Fuel is heavy.  Roger will probably recommend the Silver Particle, but let's wait to see....I'm pretty sure he will though......

It all depends on what you really see.....however both balls would work, and so would the Fuel depending on your style.  I have the Fuel and can use it on fresh mediums as long as the head oil stays very versatile piece.  Price wise though,...you can NOT beat the Silver Streak line!!  Even though I have the Fuel and love it, I'd recommend the Silver Particle for you.

SSP or Pure Fuel for (true) medium-heavy to (true) heavy oil?
Wannabe, you must be the new Robert Smith! (no offense intended, if you are.)

Unless I miss my guess or Roger says otherwise, but I believe that both balls were designed for medium-light to medium oil patterns. I guess you could try them, as long as you hit some decent amount of dry or maybe you could sand them to better grab the lane early enough in such oil. The Pure Fuel, being particle (but also pearl) might be ok for up to medium-heavy, but I think it is designed as a skid/flip ball, more to open up a lane.

charlest, by SSP he means the Silver Streak Particle.....but yes, the Pure Fuel is meant for medium oil.  As is the Silver solid and pearl. Originally RG said they were for medium to light, but they did change that......properly change that !
