More than likely there isn't enough oil for the Mutant, which needs a degree more oil than the Cell Pearl.

Where is the MB marking for each of these two?  If it's closer to your thumb than the Cell Pearl is then all that means is that the Mutant is going to go into roll later.  But, that isn't to say it isn't burning up, but please provide more info.

mb placement is important but from what I have seen the mutant is very lane condition specific.. Most of the people I have seen in this area are throwing them on conditions that don't have enough oil.. and they all don't like the ball..

--------------------
18 mph,350 rpm,PAP 5 1/2 x 3/8up, 15 deg axis tilt, varied rotational axis deg.. usually 45+
HighGame 300 x 4, High Series 808
Book Average 205,PBA Xperience 185
375 RPM, 17-18 MPH, 45+ DEG AXIS ROTATION, 17 DEG TILT

you need oil for that ball to perform well.

also make sure you're not just hitting the ball with 2000 or 4000 grit as the ball comes when you buy it at 500 grit then 2000 grit. if the balls surface gets too smooth by removing the 500 grit from the factory the ball will go long and skid on the backend.  (this goes for balls that came 500,1000,2000, etc as well!)

tweener
300 revs
16 mph
17 degrees of tilt

when you're feeling blue,
just say to yourself "what would BallBaggins do?"

The Mutant Cell is the strongest ball Roto has made. This ball needs a whole lot of oil if you have any sort of revs. We have a couple guys who throw them in my league. They only have about 225-250rpm they can throw it. If I tried it on that pattern it was be a terrible. As a rule of thumb that ball should probably not come out unless the oil is 38+ ft.

My wife had the same problem, and admittedly I thought I bought her a dud, but then we went to our normal league house that has plenty of oil and the ball is such a beast I had to take it to 4000 and throw on a light polish.

The ball needs oil or it will die at your feet.
