The “Classic” is back.  Roto Grip is proud to announce the release of the SD-73 “Classic”.  The ball that created the most controversy ever in the industry is back by popular demand.


The Low RG (2.50) High Differential (.075) weight block is illegal by today’s USBC standards, but since it was approved prior to the rule change it is perfectly legal for all USBC and PBA Regional competition.

The Sure Gripâ„¢ solid reactive coverstock is a performance proven winner over the last several years and is still one of the highest friction coverstocks on the market today.

I was really hoping they didn't do this for their "specialty" release that they usually release around the holidays.  Oh well, for those that have never thrown one, you better bring some oil with you to the center to be able to get this monster up the lane.

It would seem to me (not being able to find actual specs on the original) that the core and cover on the same so the only thing different would be the name (adding "classic") and perhaps the color.  I don't think Hank, Roger and the rest of the guys would put together something that woudln't be approved.

Actually the core is grandfathered in. That's how Ebonite was able to get the No Limit in

I dunno what the reasoning was for this re release. But then again if it hooks a ton, people will buy it. I am interested to see reviews on it though. With the Super Walls just most bowlers bowl on today, this ball is gonna burn up before it leaves their hand. But it may be a good fit for a long flat pattern. We'll see. I wonder if more companies are going to do this to "beat" the USBC.

I hope those who are worried about it burning up realize that the .070 diff is the "potential" flare.  You can lay it out however you want to control the flare.  You'll just need longer than normals pins (5-6.25") if you are concerned about overflare.

Please also remember that the cover is the original sure grip (tm) that will also keep the burn early fears away.  I personally am loooking forward to this release.

I'm not worried about me burning it up. I would use it for what it is intended for...OILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. LOL. But I am just reffering about the general public, I mean how many people have you seen throwing the Big one and W.O.M.B.'s on house shots where a Saturn would be more than enough ball. I have never seen this ball thrown, so I dunno what to expect. But I don't think that its something that I am anticipating. But we shall see.

i dont get it, why they have to make most of the balls with the purple colour? i want a heavy oil ball to be red!

im not bowling for the look but it gets boring when 5 people uses purple color balls...

Wow...Brunswick could learn from Roto-Grip. They are reintroducing a ball

because of comsumer feedback. I wonder if big B will ever reintroduce the

original Inferno due to overwhelming customer demands.

Copy RG's ideas and make a limited number of batches.
