Oil Ball
« on: September 25, 2012, 05:49:13 AM »
To begin, I know my current in-use is full of "hook monsters," but I'm looking to branch out and try things from other brands. As of late I've not matched up with Pearls, and have done excessively well with Stacked / Pin Down drillings in my equipment, which has given me more control.

Now, what I'm looking for is something to take heavy conditions, and eat them. My GP2 is drilled late, and has a very smooth turn, but once it turns there is no stopping it.

I'm looking for something to go along with it, but earlier. I've been looking at the Defiant, but I'm also looking at the Storm Vivid. It seems like the Defiant is the ball with more grip, but I would just like opinions.

My speed has been fluctuating as of late, due to aches and pains from work, but has not gone below 16 mph at the pins.

Have a medium-high rev rate, and my track runs right on the edge of the finger hole, and the thumb hole edge. Yep, super high track.

The Defiant seems to be more of the ball you are looking for if you want more hook. The Vivid is a really nice addition and it hooks a lot but would fit more so in the early smooth reaction. I see you have a jet black taboo, have you looked into the deep purple taboo?

Yeah, I've been watching information on it as it's come out. I thought a lot of the Blue/Silver, but it's become so condition specific and has to have relatively short oil, or completely dry backends for my speed/revs. I don't want to fall into that pit again. Staying away from pearls for now, honestly.

That, and I want to try different brands.

I have a pin down vivid...(defiant and nano) the vivid is the most controlable and usable...the defiant seems to have the most length and flip..the nano its inbetween the two...forme anyways

Well trip,

I have to agree with bill. If you want flip, go with the defiant or the new lucid, the vivid would be more rolly and suited for heavy patterns. No bad decisions, just knowing what reaction you want.

You want to branch out to try different brands, try the Seismic Raging Bull Charged. It is one of the best oil balls out there IMO not just saying it because Im a staffer, but from experience, this ball hooks more than anything I've thrown recently. The carry is exceptional and the control is what Seismic is all about.

The Vivid sounds a little closer to what I want, in truth, then. I'll have to look into the Seismic stuff, as I haven't seen it in use anywhere, period.

The Revenge I'm wary of, because I've seen people throwing it and just wasn't truthfully impressed. Last tournament I went to was loaded with Vivids, Defiants, and Frantics, but the guys throwing DV8 were having major over/under issues.

Thanks for the input, guys. I just actually have to get the money to buy a new one, which should be fairly soon. Til then, keep the opinions rollin!
