Out of box surface for Venus?
« on: September 05, 2007, 08:54:15 AM »
Can someone tell me what grit the Venus comes at out of the box before polish?  I tried taking some of the shine off mine but want to put it back to out of box surface for now.  I plan on using Brunswick's high gloss polish or Beans on it.

Pretty sure it's their standard 1500 grit. If you use Brunswick polish, sand it to 1500 grit first, as theirs has no abrasive in it. Better yet, sand it to 1000 grit and then polish it. See how it reacts. RG and Storm balls do not seem to react precisely as they come stock, when you follow their finishing recipe. If 1000 grit is too early, try 1200 grit next. then polish and try. Then, if necessary, take it to 1500 grit.
