Rogue Cell Winners.. CHOSEN - winners listed!
« on: March 09, 2009, 02:38:24 AM »
OK guys...
We have gone through and selected the winners...
We had so many submissions so we decided to not only give away the 5 balls but we chose 7 "runner up" submissions and we are giving them one of the new Rogue T-shirts (you can view them at http://www.rotogear.com/p-62-rogue-cell-t-shirt.aspx)

If you weren't chosen, it wasn't necessarily because we didn't like your submission, we had ALOT of duplicates and the first person to put the idea up got the prize.

The winners are

BALL
   svstar34
   marsden74311
   jauggernaut
   alpjr2000
   dyno-joe

SHIRT
   bannachb
   monsterpike
   tonykcgee
   hiflush
   imbackinthegame
   demo40
   jodotto

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who submitted suggestions.  Stay tuned for further contests.

Thanks for the Rogue Shirt again Matt!!  Guess I have to get the ball if I'm gonna wear the shirt, LoL.  Great marketing strategy  Unless you want to send a 16# ball my way w/that shirt....

Trust me Muncie, I don't know any Roto Grip or Storm Staffer, their families or friends.  The only person I even met from this site in person is jls.  Now he might have met some staffers obviously as he's been a pro shop owner for some time.

I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT ANYTHING JUST SAYING THAT THIS WHOLE IDEA OF NAMING A BALL AND GETTING A ROGUE AND NOT THE BALL YOU NAME WHILE ROTOGRIP MAKES MILLIONS OFF OF YOUR NAME IS ALSO KINDA WEIRD.  I AM A DEEP LOVER OF ROTOGRIP EQUIPMENT.  BUT THIS WHOLE IDEA OF NAMING A BALL THROUGH A WEBSITE NOT DESIGNED FOR ROTOGRIP EXCLUSIVELY IS JUST DIFFERENT.  MAYBE I JUST DON'T GET IT AND I AM NOT TRYING TO START ANYTHING WITH ANYONE.  I JUST FEEL THAT THE CONTEST WAS OVER BEFORE IT HAD EVEN BEGAN.

Muncie, I won a ball in this contest... I have absolutely no relation to anyone involved in Storm or Roto-Grip.

A great idea by a great company

I JUST WANT TO REASSURE EVERYONE THAT I LOVE ALL BOWLERS AND DO NOT WANT TO OFFEND ANYONE.  JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I HAVE NOT PARTICIPATED IN ANY OF THE CONTEST BEFORE SO MAYBE LIKE I SAID I DON'T GET THE IDEA OF IT YET.  I AM NOT TRYING TO START FIGHTS ON HERE OR ANYTHING OF THAT SORT. BUT MY BELIEFS ABOUT THE CONTEST ARE STILL MY BELIEFS EVEN THOUGH THEY MAYBE BE WRONG OR RIGHT.

I'm just having trouble understanding what about this contest bothers you.  Considering this is one of the more popular bowling websites, and Storm/Rotogrip loves to reference it in reviews they post on their website, etc., it's not that surprising they'd take advantage of it.  Of course they're not going to give the winners the ball they're naming -- only one of these people will even have actually named the ball, the rest were just honorable mentions basically.  Also, it'll be months before said ball comes out -- why not give them a prize now?  The plus side for Rotogrip is that such a contest results in a lot of good publicity as it builds their image as a company that cares about the bowlers.

The only thing I didn't like about the contest was the fact that I couldn't think of any good ball names.

First, lose the CAPS LOCK.  It makes you look worse than you already do.

Second, Roto will make X amount of dollars whether they use our names or not.  It's not they stole an invention or a major change in chemistry that made the ball dramatically better.

I just hope one person's view doesn't deter the great folks over at Roto-Grip from doing another ball giveaway.

You know whats funny.  Munciebowler accuses Roto Grip of fixing a contest and is whining but yet if you look at the other posts on the forum he is asking how to get on staff with Roto Grip.  How bout this Munciebowler...don't insult their integrity and then ask them to "hook you up"

I don't think they're going to let ANYONE know the names they chose.  I am a ball winner that had around 10 names suggested and they won't even let ME know which one was picked.  All I know is they must've liked at least one of them.

And, as for having some "tie" with Rotogrip, Matt, or Roger, I assure you that is not the case.  If it were, I would be asking them for a job because I just lost mine today.  Some good Friday the 13th for me, huh?

Win a ball, lose a job, blow your brains out and all within a couple of days, isn't life just GRAND?

Congrats to the winners.  Well, every time we throw Roto Grip balls, we can ALL be considered winners.  Great company, great equipment, great ideas, great promotions.   Thanks Matt!

I am really curious to know what direction they're going to go.  I just hope it's not Katana or similar names.  Does anyone know if they're going to discontinue the Illusion and Grand Illusion to put these balls out?

I'll give my $.02, I dont think any of the names were chosen that had to deal with other names for swords. I'm not saying those were bad ideas and i'm pretty sure the same with Matt and Roger, but I think Roto was looking for ideas to start a whole new line of balls with.
