Trying To Decide Between Shout and Tropical Breeze Black Cherry
« on: September 28, 2012, 01:35:40 PM »
Both balls are fairly new but I'd appreciate input from anyone who may have thrown one or both.

I am slower speed, rev dominant and I need a ball for house shots where when I stand on top of the gutter my plastic ball bounces off the dry high or Brooklyn.  I want to stay right of 20 with something weaker and swing to the ditch without the ball overreacting.  Gettting in the soup with something stronger gives me the old 4 pin weak 10 reaction.

In the past, weaker balls for me store too much and don't give me the control I need.  Having thrown one or both, which do you think is a better choice.

Thanks

The Shout is a little bit stronger overall but the Tropical Breeze will react to the dry more.  For what you are describing I'd go with the Shout.

Here's my Shout 105*(PAP-pin-PSA)x4.25"x65* no x hole in OOB 1500 polished

On 16 yr old 1st Gen. Anvilane w/ worn synthetic  39' 19ml wet/dry THS pattern.  Generally playing slide 23 arrows 12 to 7-8 break point with less axis rotation more forward roll on fresh to calm backend ave. 35* AR and medium speed 15 at backend.  The Shout because of the pin down layout, solid cover and OOB ball surface get good length because of the 2.57 .022 on the worn synthetic.  I don't have any experience with the Storm Tropical Breeze Black Cherry so I can't compare.  I'd guess the Shout is a pretty good choice for playing where you want to on the lane but still think you may wind up left of 20 if a rightie if it's a wet/dry house shot.....just guessing. Mainly because of the strength of the cover.  My stats. are in profile.

I have not thrown either of these, but for the dry and broken down lanes, these pin down drillings work wonderfully. Also, don't forget to know that shine off with a 4000 abralon pad. I find that using little to no polish with these balls works wonders.
Just my 2 cents.

I have drilled one of each with very, very similar layouts-Shout 45x4x35 and Tropical Breeze 45x4x30 and I like the Shout because its stronger in the backend and starts up a little earlier on SPL and HPL lane surfaces.... Also, when it enters the pocket, it has more energy and seems to knock the pins around better....I do like the Breeze on Cheetah and some shorter KEGEL patterns... But on THS... The Shout is awesome!!!
