When?
« on: July 11, 2008, 05:46:52 AM »
I know we have beaten this topic to death but I was wondering if Roger or any staff members were able to give us any info on when we might see a pearl Cell. I really could use one right now... I am being forced to polish my Cell for the Youth Open...

Locke:

I do not know the release date but until that ball comes out, I would recommend a Gravity Shift to compliment the Cell.  You don't want to leave any pins, or scholarships, on the table waiting for that ball to be released.

I agree with Steve on this one. If you are really serious about getting scholarships from bowling, I wouldn't wait for a pearl cell, I'd go with the Gravity, a great 1-2 punch

just get another cell drill for more length and save a little money since it is after all cheaper than a gravity

My Cell is drilled just about as long as it can go. And I think they should start with the new ball while the old Cell is just going over the crest. Keep the wave steady. And I'm not just saying that because I want the ball. There are a lot of balls coming out that will take the eye off the Cell. Balls like the Venom and Demension. Just a thought....

I would recommend NOT drilling another CELL to go longer.  As I've posted on a previous thread, after I got my original 2 CELL's I got 2 more and drilled them in identical layouts but a 1" longer pin to PAP difference to allow me to go straighter through the fronts.  In "normal" balls, that would make a big difference in controlling the flare and change the shape.  It didn't make a bit of difference in the CELL.  Shortly after I drilled them I had a lesson with Hank in Milwaukee and he said because of the shape of the core that helps maintain differential the difference would have to be larger.  So in this case I went from an original ball of 5" pin to PAP, to 6" and it should have been at least 6.5" to see a noticable difference.  However, in doing so I risk making the flare hit all my holes.

To me the choice is clear.

Bottom line, you have a choice to get a Gravity (with a similar cover) now or wait who knows how long, and lose who knows how much money betting on the come.  PLUS, how do we know yet if the Pearl CELL, or whatever it's going to be, is even going to be that different of a look that you're seeking?
