Aftermath, week 3 thoughts...
« on: January 27, 2012, 12:29:02 AM »
After shooting 650+ the first week, then 680 last week, I knew all I needed was a surface tweak to be able to potentially use the Aftermath all 3 games in my Thurs. league.

So I settled on 500 grit Abralon for the underlying grit, then 4000 over top of that with a light coat of Reacta-Shine to finish.

I couldnt ask for a better ball reaction last night! Keep in mind that this league can be very tricky at times, very rarely will you see most folks use the same ball all 3 games, it gives most bowlers transitions differently from week to week. The trick is to find a ball that goes through the pins the proper way, or you will get tap after tap.

With that said the Aftermath gave me a look that I have been needing the last couple of seasons. Smooth but continous through the pins is the best way to describe it. I went 248,220, 267 for a decent 735. Not high, but considering we have 0 800 sets in this league, with several current and former pba regional guys, I'll take it.

Im really sold on the control aspect, and the saying the folks at Seismic preach that most hook doesnt always win. The Aftermath is a very versitile ball, what I like about it is that while it is a super strong ball, it doesnt chew up the front part of the lane like other "oiler" balls. While there were others hooking it more than me, the Aftermath allowed me to stay in the same general area of the lane and make speed and hand adjustments as the transitions came and went, I moved a total of 5 boards all night. The combo of drilling, correct surface prep (and minor operator error all came together for what I was looking for when I ordered this ball.

Also, I think you could drill two of these with different drillings and cover most long/hvy to med hvy patterns.

Sorry for the rant, but Im really excited and thankful to be a part of Seismic!
