I am finally getting the chance to give a review of two different Anarchies. I drilled the first Anarchy with the pin ¾†over ring, mb in my thumb, with no extra hole and finished the ball with 600/1200 cab by hand. This comes out to a 5.5 x 5.5 layout. The comparison balls will be an Invasion with the pin over ring,( 5 x 5.5 no hole), mb also in the thumb finished 400/1200 cab by hand, and the other Anarchy 5.5 x 4, pin on grip line, below fingers, with a large extra hole on PAP touched with a used 2000 abralon pad.
After drilling, the first Anarchy had a spin time of 8 seconds on a Determinator. Even with surface, the ball gets down the lane very clean, with a strong more violent move back to the pocket compared to the other Anarchy as well as the Invasion. Comparing the Invasion and the first Anarchy, using a bit more rev rate, allowed the Invasion to hook up and smooth out the break point. The Anarchy was much more responsive to the breakpoint than the Invasion, due to the energy retained from the pearl R3X cover stock. I was able to get the ball to corner from much deeper on the lane. Once I took hand out of the ball, the complete opposite happened. The Invasion still hooked up, actually about 2 feet earlier on the lane, and made a strong aggressive move back to the pocket. The Anarchy would skid through the middle too much, and give me a bit of over/ under on the fairly fresh house condition. This is very understandable, considering the very high pin placement of the Anarchy, and slightly less cover prep combined with the high volume of oil in the middle of the lane. I have used the Anarchy in box surface prep, highly polished, as well as with the aforementioned surface prep, and have had no trouble getting the ball to the breakpoint with a trace of oil up front. This ball will work well when I need a long and strong reaction, on flatter conditions, or when they start to burn up, and I have to chase the shot in deep. This particular layout will struggle on over walled house conditions, or anything that is real wet dry.
The second Anarchy I am going to discuss had a spin time of 5.5 seconds on the Determinator, post drill. As you can see the spin time was decreased by 2.5 seconds! Please notice both balls have a 5.5 in pin layout, the difference being the mb placement allowing for a large extra hole, and longer pin buffer. This Anarchy really likes the fresh conditions! It revs up much easier than the first Anarchy, and changes direction very quickly at the breakpoint, giving me a lot more roll through the back part of the lane. This Anarchy isn't as allergic to carrydown as the first one due to the faster spin time. This ball works great on fresh league conditions, as even with 2000 abralon surface prep, it still gets through the front. The ball motion is more “built in†than the first Anarchy, as differences in rev rate and releases do not affect the ball motion as drastically as the first Anarchy with the high pin, and no hole.
As you can see, the Anarchy can be drilled to satisfy almost any customers’ needs. If you want long and strong to be able to open up the back part of the lane, drill with a high pin, long mb placement, to allow for a longer spin time, thus saving energy for the backend of the lane. If you want the ball to rev up quickly, and have a more defined motion built in, drill pin down, something you can use a large extra hole with and watch this big core rev up and blast all ten into the pit!
No matter what, don't forget to Bowl up a Storm!
