The expectations for a Storm bowling ball are great and the Storm Spectre meets those expectations. This mid-performance ball showcases the inventive Vector Core which is encased in a 1500-grit polished R3S Pearl Reactive coverstock. This core and cover combination was designed and put together with the most inquisitive competitors in mind. The Spectre offers control as it skids through the front of the lane without losing traction for the midlane and break point on medium oil conditions.

The new Storm Spectre is a great addition to the Thunder Line. The Vector core is another great rolling shape akin to the Trend and Hy-Road core shapes. R3S Pearl is the perfect compliment to give you strong controllable movement in the back-end.

I tested the Storm Spectre first on our high volume house pattern. It was definitely most useful in the transition. It's strong enough to deal with the volume but clean enough to want friction down-lane.  It's very controllable, and works well to deal with wet/dry as it happens in transition.

I really found a great place for it the second week I used it in league. A lane machine malfunction had us down to about 60% of the oil we were supposed to have and everything had been throwing game 1 wanted to grab the midlane in practice,  but there was still enough length that balling down too much to get the ball through the front took away alot of area because the ball could easily over-skid and miss the breakpoint. I took the Spectre out right after practice and it was the perfect choice. It missed the friction in the front of the lane, and kept the back-ends more manageable, not missing the breakpoint or over -reacting to the friction.

The spectre can be a great first ball out on medium volume house patterns.

The Spectre is the newest addition to the Thunder line at Storm and, wow, it’s impressive.  As I bowl league and tournaments throughout California and other states, I continue to see all types of players having success with the Spectre.  I think it’s been wildly successful because of how well it goes through the pins while maintaining plenty of control down lane.  The Spectre provides an RG of 2.54 and RG of .050 which tells me this ball is designed to compliment the bigger cored, asymmetrical balls and should be used when those balls get tired. 

I’ve drilled one Spectre so far and it rolls great.  Because of the core numbers, I decided to drill it a little stronger to make sure it flares enough.  I mapped it out as 4 ½ x 4 and scratched the surface with 3000 to smooth it up some.  Later in blocks and when the lanes start to hook, the Spectre is the ball I go to.  When I need to stand left and create angle through the front, this ball still stores enough energy to run over the 8-pin. 

If you need a ball to use when the lanes are drier or when your asymmetrical balls start to get lazy, the Spectre is a perfect piece to go to!  Go drill one!

The Spectre is a new addition to my arsenal and is very impressive. It reminds me of my old Marvel Pearl, as it is the perfect ball to go to when the lanes start to break down and my bigger asymmetrical balls start to burn up and get lazier down lane.

I’ve drilled mine pin up with a layout of 55 x 5 x 30 and my tilt is around 20 degrees. I am more speed dominant and this ball shapes up perfectly for me.

The Spectre is a versatile medium-conditions bowling ball that is clean in the front with a strong hard-arc backend.  It is strong enough for medium-heavy to medium-dry conditions, though I do find the Spectre to have better carry if I stayed right of 25; once I got too far left, the carry went away. I contribute that to the predictability and hard-arcing characteristics of the core. This is a great ball to use when the solid/sanded equipment starts to burn up, but when the cleaner balls like the Wolverine or Electrifys aren't enough.

The addition to the Storm Thunder Line is the Spectre. Spectre comes with the R3S pearl coverstock. I first threw the Spectre at one of the Matchmakers and noticed real quick how smooth this bowling ball was.  Spectre doesn't have the skid snap motion at all. I drilled mine pin down with a 5 inch pin from PAP.  Clean and strong continuous arc motion is what I saw from the Spectre.  With the pearl coverstock, it doesn't like the big puddle that most house shots have.  But when the fronts burn up a little the Spectre comes alive.  Also in later blocks and or shorter patterns. But for me the spectre ball motion is very unique, hard to explain but spectre just goes through the pins the right way.  When you bigger balls like Dark Code, Nova start to labor a little Spectre is a great ball to go to.

Hey everyone, I’m back with another ball review, and this time it’s for the Storm Spectre and in 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the R3S Pearl Coverstock and comes 1500-grit polished with an RG of 2.54 and a Diff of 0.050.
Layout for this ball is 5.5 X 4.5 X 1
Ya’ll this is that house shot killer ball. The R3S Pearl and the Vector Core are a match made in heaven. This is a ball that is the perfect amount of hook for your house shot. It is a strong ball, but I found it to be that I could keep moving left throughout the night with out seeing the ball burning up. If you find yourself on higher friction lanes I would automatically jump into a ball that is a tad cleaner. The scent on this ball is Candy Cane Cookie and smells great too!

I drilled my SPECTRE up 5 x 30. I have thrown it at box finish and also at lite 3000.

The intent was to have something that didn't start up fast compared to the "bigger" core pearl balls when I see defined friction on the lane. I liked what I have seen so far from this one. It gave me a smooth revving pearl that didn't start up the minute it seen friction on the lane.

I did see it slightly smother than my ALTERED REALITY but a little less ball than my PHAZE 4.

I was looking forward to using it more and hope the USBC will reverse it's decision and permit this ball back into sanctioned play in the future.

R3S Pearl coverstock

symmetric Vector core

I am a sucker for r3s hybrid coverstocks after the Phaze 3, so looked forward to seeing it again as a pearl. Stronger than r2s pearl, it gives me a slightly earlier, smoother reaction from other pearls in this performance level.

The Vector core, as first glance, looks a lot like the Tensor core in the Incite. Difference is this one is symmetric and a little weaker. It is very smooth in the back end for me, similar to the Incite.

If you liked the Incite and was it's little brother, here you go.

For me, this is a ball down from my Phaze 3, when I need to control the backend (and my wolverine is too angular).
