the layout is messed up its supposed to be :
pin over ring with cg kicked out like 2.5 inches and the key an inch right of the thumb.

I love the shift. As a newbish comeback player I am suprised about what happend with both the new syntetic lanes and the balls. When I played for like 15 years ago in junior leage I played on wood lanes with a amf bobcat. Back then I used a cobra arm thingy and played from like board 12 over 10 and I actuallay remeber the lanes back then was very short oil back then. There was folk hooking like 20-25 boards back then also but the mostly seemed to get splits.

Anyways, nowadays I bowl with more speed and my great driller really helped me find the ball for me and drilled it perfectly for me wit a aggressive but controllable hook. On fresh oil (syntetic lane) with quite good speed I now play from 10-12 out to 3-4 board and it just carry as h-ll. with slower speeds and my mediumish revs it will easily hook much more. with my current speed and revs it has a kinda smooth flip but still a very nice flip and lots of power in carry.

Compared to my like 400 finish silencer ball the shift is much more forgiving and a massive impact.
It also hooks about the same amount of boards as my silencer that is drilled to get going much earlier. My flat silencer should hook better on fresh oil but this storm shift just flips a bit later and crushes with a nice hook.

I am very happy.

I drilled my Shift with a 4 1/2 by 3 layout, with the pin drilled out of my ring finer, with a hole on my axis.  I had heard that this ball was extremely strong so I decided to tame it down a lil with drilling the pin out and throwing a hole on my axis...(One of my favorite drillings)  I put the mass bias around 65 degrees and this ball is still one of my strongest backend balls in my bag.  Even with the hole on my PAP, the shift has an extremely angular backend reaction which definetly comes into play on the longer patterns after they break down when I can migrate left and go around them a lil more.

ive had my storm shift for a couple months now and i am nothing but impressed with this ball.i am a hig rev player medium ball speed.this ball is very aggressive and i love how much backend i can get out of this ball and the way it hits the pins doesnt leave many 10 pins for me.i am only 15 and averaging 165 my 3rd year of bowling.

After my first Shift cracked…I received a new one a decided to try a trick layout drilling.

Place Pin 1½ inches away from my
Vertical Axis Line and 4½ inches away from the PAP
Mass Bias at 80 degree angle to the right of the thumb
And a balance hole drilled 1” to legal

This layout is a trick-Flare layout for high rev high track players.
I was somewhat skeptical on the drilling since after all it wasn’t a normal drilling but I decided to take the chance.  I left OOB finish and began to bowl on a freshly oiled “not buffed” heavy oil shot. Previously I play around 3rd arrow out to about 5 board with my r47. At first I noticed this ball cleared the heads very we’ll but needed allot of head angle to make a good transition. With the backend being spotty where as I was playing a huge arc before I was able to play a tight breakpoint with my shift. 17 mph with about 350 rpm a little less than  normal, the ball seemed to transition strong and snap like no ball I have thrown not being on a buffed backend. First game 235, second 243, third 288 766 the ball was amazing.  I truly cannot wait to use this on a fresh shot with a cleaned backend…the ball will surely hard snap. I also must say this trick drilling is amazing for all high rev players ‘with high tracks’ this ball allows the ball to clear the heads and pick up in the midlane and create a huge big backend reaction. A must try for all players of this style.

I really love this ball as long as I have medium heavy oil or heavy oil. I chose the "House" layout for this ball. Good lenght with an awesome backend move. I have not had to change the factory finish,

drilled for back end and alot of it its not as strong as my gravity but its a good compliment and so is my attitude ts a good consistant ball

kills the pins and the pocket and not many ten pins with this ball

another good storm ball!!!

See stats for profile. This is my second Shift.

Lay Out: 5" from PAP over my ring finger at a 65* angle. This would be a 65/5/35 dual-angle drilling. I have not touched it with a weight hole.

Surface: I have been leaving this at box which is 1500 polish. I have just been cleaning the surface of dirt.

Purpose: To give myself a ball that could be used on longer patterns and ones with medium volumes. This was replacement for a Shift that I threw literally everywhere last fall and tracked out.

Initial Observations: I have tried this out on some house conditions, our PBAX and Sport league patterns, and PBA Central Region patterns. My second reads in the same spot as the first did. I can cut my angle down on more oil and go up the lane. I can go to a stronger wrist position and go away from the pocket some. I use this on the medium/longer patterns like Scorpion and Chameleon, but can back my hand out of it and go up the lane on Viper if the lane surface plays long (is slicker).

Final thoughts: This ball will always have a spot in my bag as it put me back into the honor score category again. When giving arsenal advice, this ball always get mentioned as a particle pearl. It is very different as it is the most angular particle ball I have seen or thrown.

This ball is a piece of crap that used to roll out and hit like a marsh mellow on virtually every condition I ever used it on (this is one bowler who does not miss particle balls at all).  The only good I can say about the ball is at least it was the one that cracked and not the BVP Rampage I bought at the same time which was a far superior ball and one I still use today.  Soured me on Storm for many years until recently got a Hy-Road which is a great ball made about the same time but infinitely better (as in Lexus vs Yugo better).
