Any one drill a Nano Double Thumb?
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:33:48 AM »
Just got a Nano and I'm considering drilling it Double Thumb.Alot of tournaments I bowl put out a 42-44 ft.

flatter heavier pattern. Not alot of lane left for the ball to transition from hook to roll, that's why I THINK I'd like to DT it.Stats are in my profile.Thanks.

You do have a lower rev rate, according to your profile... but that is an extremely strong layout for an already extremely strong ball. Might be a better idea to just go with your favorite layout and then tweak the surface to your liking (4000 oob leaves you a lot of room to drop the surface and get an earlier read on heavy oil).

a Nano drilled double-thumb would hook before you even put it on the ball return

The only things that are truly permanent are death and Sharpies.

I believe when you lower your expectations, you only increase your chances xD

I would agree with the other two...taking a ball that strong and drilling it that strong would probably make a ball motion you wouldn't get to use very often.  It would roll good for about 7 shots and then start burning up in the heads.  I would play with surface and drill the ball with a more normal layout to store a little bit of energy.

Thanks for the replies.I drilled it 70* x 3 x 35* with enough thumb weight

left to put a P3 or P3.5 balance hole in it if I need to. Still playing with the

surface to try and  get the reaction I want.

I disagree with the above posts that DT would be too strong.  For a house shot, it will definately be too much, but for heavier sport shots, it should be fine.  I throw similar to you with a slightly higher rev rate, and I was able to use a double thumbed Alpha Max for most of 6 games on both Shark and Kegel Autobahn.

If that is what you are looking to use it on, I think DT will be fine.  If you are looking for a house shot, pick a different layout.

EDIT: Just realized you already drilled it.  Disregard.
